Domoticz Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Domoticz hosting on xCloud gives you a self-hosted home automation hub that stays online around the clock. Deploy Domoticz from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the pinned 2026.4 image as one container with an embedded SQLite database, sets the administrator account from the install form with a generated password, mounts a volume for the database, plugins and scripts and publishes it over HTTPS. Network-based hardware works; USB dongles do not.

What is Domoticz?

Domoticz is a free, open-source home automation system, and its README says it monitors and controls lights, switches and sensors for temperature, rain, wind, energy, gas, water and more. It lists event scripting with dzVents in Lua, Python plugins, push notifications, extended logging and a scalable HTML5 web interface. Self-hosted Domoticz is a home automation hub you run yourself instead of a vendor's cloud app. It is licensed under GPL-3.0.

On xCloud this template deploys Domoticz 2026.4 from the upstream image, pinned by digest, as one container with an embedded SQLite database on the domoticz_userdata volume. It runs on an isolated network with no device passthrough, so it suits MQTT, LAN gateways, virtual sensors, scripts and the JSON API. USB dongles such as Z-Wave and Zigbee, GPIO and local-discovery devices are not reachable from it.

From Sign-Up to a Live Automation Hub In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Domoticz hub normally means a container, an administrator account, a userdata volume, a domain and a certificate before the first device is added. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Domoticz from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, then confirm the administrator username (default admin) — the password is generated for you.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned Domoticz image as a single container with its embedded SQLite database, mount the domoticz_userdata volume for the database, plugins, dzVents scripts and backups, apply the administrator account on first start and publish the web interface and API over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Open It And Sign In

Save the password from the protected installation credentials, open your HTTPS Domoticz URL (the first start can take a minute or two) and sign in. Then add hardware under Setup, such as an MQTT gateway or virtual sensors.

Everything Domoticz Does, On Your Own Server

Domoticz runs in full here for network-based hardware: a home automation hub on your own domain with a login from the first start.

  • Lights, Switches And Sensors

Monitor and control lights, switches and sensors from one web dashboard.

  • Timers, Scenes And Notifications

Automate with timers, scenes and notifications, and script with dzVents (Lua) and Python plugins.

  • MQTT And Network Hardware

Connect MQTT brokers, LAN gateways, cloud services and virtual sensors as hardware entries.

  • JSON API

Use the JSON API for dashboards and custom integrations; unauthenticated and wrong-password API commands were rejected in verification.

  • Login From The First Start

The administrator account is created from the install form with a generated password, so the hub is not left open.

  • Persistent Userdata

The database, plugins, dzVents scripts, web templates and backups live in the domoticz_userdata volume; hardware entries and devices survived an xCloud Restart.

  • Image pinned by digest
  • Administrator password generated for you

What You Can Do With Domoticz

  • Bridge MQTT devices

Add an MQTT gateway as hardware and manage the devices it exposes from one dashboard.

  • Run virtual sensors and scripts

Use virtual sensors, dzVents scripts and Python plugins to build automations that need no physical gateway.

  • Reach LAN gateways and cloud services

Connect network-based gateways and cloud integrations to an always-on hub instead of a machine at home.

  • Power custom dashboards

Read and control devices through the JSON API from your own dashboards and tools.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Domoticz free?

Yes. Domoticz is free, open-source software under GPL-3.0, with the licence file linked from this page at the pinned 2026.4 tag. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS under it, not for Domoticz, and there is no per-device fee. Donations to the project are optional and separate.

Can you self-host Domoticz with Docker?

Yes, and this Domoticz Docker hosting template does it for you: the upstream domoticz/domoticz image, pinned by digest, runs as one container on your own server with HTTPS in front of port 8080. It is not a Domoticz cloud account, and the pinned tag avoids the development-build latest tag.

How much RAM does Domoticz need?

The template manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor, because it uses an embedded SQLite database. Logs and backups grow the volume. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves enormous headroom above that floor for other apps.

Which hardware works with Domoticz on a cloud server?

Network-based integrations: MQTT, LAN gateways, cloud services, virtual sensors, plugins and scripts. USB dongles for Z-Wave or Zigbee, GPIO, I²C and devices that need local discovery are not reachable from the isolated install. If most of your hardware is local, run Domoticz on that network.

How do I sign in to Domoticz?

Use the administrator username and generated password shown in the credentials after install. They are created on first start only. If you see a setup wizard instead of a login page, no account exists yet and the first visitor to finish it becomes the administrator, so open the site and act immediately.

How do I change the Domoticz password?

Change it inside Domoticz under Setup, Settings, Users. The environment values are read only while no administrator exists, so editing them later and redeploying does not change an existing account. Keep the password private, since anyone who signs in can change every device.

Should I add a trusted local network in Domoticz?

No. Keep Setup, Settings, Local Networks empty, because a network listed there skips the login entirely and would let anyone from it control your devices. Also leave the web and SSL port settings at their defaults, since the template maps the web port to 8080.

Who can change my Domoticz devices?

Anyone who can sign in can read and change every device, script and setting, and install plugins that run code in the container. There is one administrator login protecting the interface and the API, so share it carefully, or add Basic Authentication at the access layer.

How do I back up Domoticz?

Back up the whole domoticz_userdata volume as one unit, mounted at /opt/domoticz/userdata, which holds the database, plugins, dzVents scripts, web templates and Domoticz's own backups. The upload limit for restoring a database through the interface is 100 MB. Test a restore on a disposable install.

How do I upgrade Domoticz?

Your 2026.4 install keeps its pinned image when the catalog changes. Back up the volume, then adopt a newer template version rather than editing the image tag or digest, and read the upstream release notes, especially for plugin and script compatibility, then check your scenes and timers after the move.

Is Domoticz an alternative to Home Assistant?

Home Assistant has its own OneClick page. Domoticz is a lightweight home automation system that runs here as a single container with built-in timers, scenes and scripting. This page makes no feature-parity claim, so check that your devices and integrations are supported before choosing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
