Downtify Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Downtify hosting on xCloud gives you a self-hosted music downloader that turns Spotify and YouTube Music links into tagged audio files from your browser. Deploy Downtify from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the pinned 3.4.0 image behind a private nginx gateway, replaces the public default login with a generated admin password, mounts volumes for your library and publishes it over HTTPS. Only download content you are permitted to download.

What is Downtify?

Downtify is a self-hosted web app that, in its README's words, turns Spotify and YouTube Music links into a tagged audio library. It resolves track details from public Spotify embed pages, so it needs no Spotify credentials, account or Premium subscription, then finds the audio on YouTube Music with ytmusicapi, downloads it with yt-dlp and tags it with ffmpeg and mutagen. It also plays the library back, and lists a playlist monitor, lyrics and M3U playlist export. Self-hosted Downtify is a music downloader you run yourself. At this version it is licensed under GPL-3.0.

On xCloud this template deploys Downtify 3.4.0 as a community-published image, pinned by digest, behind a pinned nginx gateway. Settings and users sit on the downtify_data volume and downloaded audio on downtify_downloads. Downloads grow the disk quickly, and YouTube may refuse requests from datacenter addresses.

From Sign-Up to a Live Downtify Install In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting a music downloader normally means a gateway, a domain, a certificate and a secured admin login before a single track can save. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Choose Downtify from the xCloud OneClick catalog and select a domain. There are no extra fields — xCloud generates the credentials.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned Downtify 3.4.0 image behind a private nginx gateway, replace the default admin login with a generated password, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Paste A Spotify Link

Save the generated admin password, open the HTTPS Downtify URL, sign in as admin, and paste a Spotify link to start your first download.

Everything Downtify Does, On Your Own Server

Downtify runs in full here — a self-hosted music downloader and player, on infrastructure you control.

  • Download Spotify Tracks, Albums And Playlists

Download Spotify tracks, albums, artists and playlists as tagged audio with album art, lyrics and metadata.

  • Keep Playlists In Sync

The built-in playlist monitor keeps your downloaded playlists in sync with Spotify.

  • Play Your Library In The Browser

Play the library in the built-in browser player. Upstream lists its companion mobile apps as experimental.

  • Default Login Replaced At Install

The public default login is replaced at install by a generated admin password.

  • Non-Cacheable By Design

Signed-in audio is never cached by the CDN for anonymous visitors.

  • Library Survives A Restart

Settings, accounts and the downloaded library survive an xCloud Restart.

Everything You Need To Run Your Media Downloading 24/7

Managed hosting for Downtify, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Downtify 3.4.0 deployed instantly
  • Generated 24-character admin password
  • Private nginx gateway included
  • ffmpeg and yt-dlp bundled in the image
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Downtify

  • Build a tagged audio library from links

You paste a Spotify link, and Downtify saves the tracks as audio files with title, artist, album, year and cover art embedded, in the format you choose.

  • Keep a playlist in sync

You watch a playlist or artist, and new tracks or releases download on a schedule you set, instead of you re-checking it by hand.

  • Feed a media server

Downtify writes M3U playlist files that Jellyfin, Navidrome and Plex pick up, so a library you are entitled to keep shows up in your own server.

  • Share one library at home

An admin adds accounts for the rest of the household, and everyone signs in over HTTPS to browse and play the same library.

Downtify vs Alternatives

Spotify Premium
Downtify builds files you hold on your own server and, according to upstream, needs no Spotify Premium subscription. It only suits content you are permitted to download.
spotDL
Downtify offers a web interface, accounts, a player and a playlist monitor. This page makes no feature comparison with spotDL, so check both against your own workflow.
Lidarr
Lidarr is a separate music collection manager with its own OneClick page. It manages releases you already source elsewhere, while Downtify fetches tracks from links.
MeTube
MeTube is a separate web front end for yt-dlp with its own OneClick page. It downloads video and audio from URLs, while Downtify adds Spotify link handling, tagging and a library.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Downtify free?

Yes. At the pinned 3.4.0 tag Downtify is open source under GPL-3.0, linked from this page, and upstream's default branch has since moved to AGPL-3.0. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS under it, not for Downtify, and you need no Spotify Premium subscription according to the project.

Can you self-host Downtify with Docker?

Yes, and this Downtify Docker hosting template does it for you: the community-published image, pinned by digest, runs beside a pinned nginx gateway on your own server, with HTTPS in front. It is not a Downtify cloud account, and ffmpeg and yt-dlp are bundled in the image.

How much RAM does Downtify need?

The template manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor. Disk is the real limit, because downloaded audio grows quickly. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves wide headroom above that floor for conversion work and other apps.

Does Downtify need a Spotify account or API key?

No, according to upstream. It reads track details from public Spotify embed pages and never touches the Spotify API, so it needs no credentials or Premium subscription. The audio itself comes from YouTube Music or YouTube, matched by duration, and fetched with yt-dlp.

Why might a Downtify download fail?

YouTube, which Downtify fetches audio from through yt-dlp, can refuse requests from datacenter addresses. If downloads fail, upload a cookies.txt file under Settings, YouTube cookies. This is a known limitation of running it on a server, so test a few tracks before you rely on it.

How do I sign in to Downtify?

Sign in as admin with the generated password on the credentials page. The installer replaces Downtify's public default login with that password, so the site is not left open with a well-known credential. Change the password inside Downtify under Settings, Users when you like.

What should I know before downloading music with Downtify?

Only download content you are permitted to download. Keep the admin password private, because an admin can download audio onto the server disk, browse and delete the library, create users and upload YouTube cookies. You can also add Basic Authentication at the access layer as a second barrier.

What runs alongside Downtify?

A pinned nginx gateway that is the only published service, and it marks every response non-cacheable so a CDN never serves signed-in audio to anonymous visitors. Downtify itself has no published host port. Keep the port and trusted-proxy settings as shipped.

How do I back up Downtify?

Back up both volumes together, copied while the stack is stopped: downtify_data holds settings and users, and downtify_downloads holds your audio. Keep the stable environment values too. Large libraries make a full copy slow, so plan the time and the storage for it.

How do I upgrade Downtify?

Downtify 3.4.0 remains pinned on a running install when the catalog changes; moving to a newer template version is your choice. Back up both volumes and read the upstream release notes first. The licence also changed after this version, so check the new terms before you move.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
