What is Forgejo?

Is Forgejo free?

Yes — it is free and open source under the GPL-3.0-or-later license. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

Can I self-host Forgejo?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Forgejo 16.0.3 image alongside a private PostgreSQL 17.6 database, both pinned by immutable digest, mounts its persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.

How do I sign in and create an administrator?

There is no default administrator account and no generated password — none is shipped. Open your HTTPS URL after installation and create the first administrator yourself through Forgejo's own built-in setup screen, choosing your own username, email and password.

Can I clone and push over SSH?

No. This template disables Forgejo's built-in SSH server and does not publish port 22. Use the HTTPS clone and push URL shown for each repository instead.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

A private PostgreSQL database with a generated name, user and password, the persistent forgejo_data and forgejo_db volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Forgejo web interface is published through xCloud-managed HTTPS — PostgreSQL stays private to the internal network.

Is public registration open by default?

No. The template ships with self-registration disabled. Confirm that setting inside Forgejo before inviting external users if you plan to keep the forge private.

What should I back up?

forgejo_data and forgejo_db together, from a consistent point in time. forgejo_data holds repositories, LFS objects, packages, attachments and configuration; forgejo_db holds the PostgreSQL data. A cold backup is safest — for a live backup, coordinate a PostgreSQL logical dump with the data-volume snapshot.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Forgejo?

No. The template pins Forgejo 16.0.3 and PostgreSQL 17.6 by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review Forgejo and PostgreSQL release notes, back up both persistent volumes, then verify sign-in, repository access, Git push and restart persistence before changing either pinned image.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 1 GB of RAM, one CPU core and 5 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, comfortable headroom above that floor — size storage further for your repository and package growth.

What survives a restart?

Everything on forgejo_data and forgejo_db, because both are persistent named volumes. Restarting the containers does not touch your repositories, users, issues, packages or database.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Forgejo?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Forgejo project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Forgejo project.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
