Yes — it is free and open source under the MIT License. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

How do I create the first administrator account?

Through Gogs' own built-in installer. Open your HTTPS URL, keep SQLite selected, confirm the repository path stays under /data, complete the installation form, then create the initial administrator and sign in. Nothing is generated for you in advance — xCloud does not create an account or password on your behalf.

Does Gogs support SSH cloning?

No, not with this template. Only HTTPS Git cloning is supported — SSH cloning is intentionally not exposed, by design of this template.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The pinned Gogs image, the persistent gogs_data volume mounted at /data, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Gogs web interface is published through xCloud-managed ingress; no database port, Docker socket, host networking or privileged mode is exposed.

What should I back up?

The gogs_data volume, as one unit. It holds the SQLite database, every repository, configuration, logs and other application state, and should be restored as one unit. Stop writes or use Gogs' own supported backup workflow before a filesystem-level backup, keep off-server copies, and test restoration. Do not run docker compose down -v during routine maintenance.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Gogs?

No. The template pins Gogs 0.14.3 by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review upstream release notes, back up /data, and verify administrator login plus repository read-back after recreating the container on an upgrade.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk as a floor — Gogs is lightweight. This page sells the same 6 GB tier as every other OneClick app, well above what Gogs itself needs, so there's room for other work on the same server.

What survives a restart?

Everything on gogs_data, because it is a persistent named volume. A restart does not touch an existing repository, the SQLite database, configuration or administrator access.

Should I disable open registration?

Yes, once you've created the accounts you intend to use. Gogs' own admin settings let you turn off public sign-up so the server stays limited to the people you invite.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Gogs?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Gogs project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Gogs project.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
