Gancio Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Gancio hosting and run a public events agenda for your neighbourhood, collective or community group on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Gancio 1.28.2 image as a single container, creates the administrator at install with a generated password, mounts a persistent data volume and publishes the agenda over HTTPS in minutes — with RSS, calendar feeds and ActivityPub federation built in.

What is Gancio?

Gancio is an open-source shared agenda for local communities. People publish and browse events on one site, subscribe to them through RSS and calendar feeds, and follow the agenda from the fediverse over ActivityPub.

Upstream describes it as built for small nodes tied to a territory or a thematic community: everyone looking at the home page sees the same events, with no personal timelines. This template deploys version 1.28.2 as a single container with an embedded SQLite database.

From Sign-Up to a Live Events Agenda In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Gancio install normally means a container, a data directory, a reverse proxy, a certificate and a setup wizard that the first visitor could complete. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Gancio from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and enter the Administrator Email — that is the only field to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Gancio image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with its SQLite database on the gancio_data volume, finish setup ourselves, create the administrator with a generated 32-character password, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Set Up The Agenda

Allow one to two minutes for the first start, then open your HTTPS Gancio URL and sign in at /login with your email and the generated password. Open the Admin menu to set the instance name, places, theme and mail settings.

Everything Gancio Does, On Your Own Server

Gancio runs in full here: a shared events agenda on your own domain, with the data in a volume you own.

  • A Public Events Agenda

Everyone who opens the home page sees the same list of events — a shared calendar for a place or a community rather than a personal timeline.

  • RSS And Calendar Feeds

The main agenda, each place, each tag and each collection has its own RSS feed, and events can be exported as ICS.

  • ActivityPub Federation

People on Mastodon and other fediverse platforms can follow the agenda from their own accounts and see new events in their timeline.

  • Embeds For Other Websites

Show a list of events, or a single event, on another site through an iframe or a web component.

  • Moderated Submissions

Visitors can submit events and register, but anonymous events are held until an administrator approves them and new accounts stay inactive until approved.

  • Places, Tags And Recurring Events

Organise events by place and tag, enter multi-day and recurring events, and attach a flyer to an event.

Everything You Need To Run Your Events Agenda 24/7

Managed hosting for Gancio, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Gancio 1.28.2 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Administrator created at install
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Gancio

  • A neighbourhood or town agenda

Give a place one public list of what is on, instead of events scattered across chats and social feeds.

  • A collective's programme

Publish a venue's or collective's events with places and tags, and let people subscribe to the whole agenda or only one place or tag.

  • Events from the community, with approval

Let visitors submit events and register accounts while you approve what appears; anonymous submissions are held until you do.

  • Reaching people on the fediverse

Let people follow the agenda from Mastodon and other ActivityPub platforms, and show events on other sites with embeds.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I sign in?

Use the Administrator Email you entered at install and the generated password from the credentials card, at /login. The upstream default admin login was verified to be rejected.

Can anyone post events?

Anyone can submit an event, but anonymous submissions are held for administrator approval; registrations also stay inactive until approved. Both can be turned off in the admin settings.

Is the agenda public?

Yes, by design: the agenda, its API, its feeds and the ActivityPub endpoints are open to everyone, and only administrators and editors change settings and approve content. For a private calendar, add xCloud Basic Authentication or IP restrictions yourself — note that this also blocks feeds and federation.

What runs alongside Gancio?

Nothing else: it is one container with an embedded SQLite database stored in the data volume.

Does the first visitor get to claim the admin account?

No. The template finishes setup itself and creates the administrator you chose at install, so no visitor can claim the administrator account through a setup wizard.

Can I send email from Gancio?

Mail is not configured by default. Add SMTP details in the admin settings if you want password recovery and notifications to send email.

What should I back up?

The gancio_data volume, which holds config.json, the SQLite database, uploads, logs and user locale files.

Can I change the domain later?

Links follow the new domain after a restart, but fediverse follows made under the old domain no longer match, so pick the final domain before you start federating. Gancio's address is its federation identity.

What survives a restart?

Events and settings on the gancio_data volume — they were still served after a container restart in QA, because it is a persistent named volume.

Does it run on an ARM server?

No. Upstream publishes no arm64 image for this release, so the template runs on amd64 servers only.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Gancio?

No. The template pins Gancio 1.28.2 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 144 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Gancio?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Gancio project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Gancio project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
