Glance Hosting Live In 5 Minutes
Deploy Glance hosting and run a self-hosted dashboard that puts your feeds, calendar and bookmarks on one page at your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Glance 0.8.6 image with persistent config and asset volumes, hashes the login you choose and publishes it over HTTPS, so your start page is private to you and ready to customise from the first visit.

What is Glance?
Glance is a lightweight, highly customizable dashboard that displays your feeds in a streamlined interface, with widgets for RSS, subreddit and Hacker News posts, weather, YouTube uploads, market prices and server stats. Run as self-hosted Glance, it gives you a personal start page on your own server, with different layouts, as many pages as you need, custom CSS and themes. It is configured through YAML and licensed under AGPL-3.0.
On xCloud, Glance 0.8.6 is deployed as the official image pinned by digest, with a glance_config volume for glance.yml and a glance_assets volume for your own icons. The install form takes an admin username and password, and the password is stored only as a bcrypt hash. The starter page has a calendar, clock, search and documentation bookmarks, and no third-party feeds or tokens.
From Sign-Up to a Live Dashboard In Just 3 Easy Steps
A personal dashboard normally means a container, a config file, a login, a domain and a certificate before the first widget loads. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Sign Up
Create your xCloud account and pick Glance from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, then set an admin username and a password of at least 12 characters, or let xCloud generate one.
Step 02
We Deploy It For You
One click. We start the Glance 0.8.6 image pinned by digest, mount glance_config and glance_assets, hash your password into the config with a generated session secret, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Make The Page Yours
Sign in to the starter page, then edit glance.yml inside the container to add RSS feeds, a weather widget or bookmarks. Glance validates and reloads saved changes automatically, with no container restart needed.
Everything Glance Does, On Your Own Server
Glance runs here with its widgets, layouts and themes, configured by a YAML file that lives in a volume you own.
RSS And Social Feeds
Follow RSS feeds, subreddit posts, Hacker News, YouTube channel uploads and Twitch channels from one page instead of a dozen tabs.
Weather, Markets And Releases
Add widgets for weather forecasts and market prices, each with its own options, so the page answers the questions you check every morning.
Server And Container Widgets
Upstream includes Docker container status and server stats widgets. Configure them in glance.yml; this template adds no host access of its own.
Pages, Columns And Themes
Build as many pages and tabs as you need, choose layouts and columns, and pick or write a theme, with custom CSS available for the rest.
Fast And Mobile-Friendly
Glance uses minimal vanilla JavaScript and a small binary, and the layout is optimised for phones so the page works away from the desk.
Login Behind HTTPS
Username and password authentication is on from the first boot, with the password stored as a bcrypt hash in the private config volume.
Everything You Need To Run Your Dashboard 24/7
Managed hosting for Glance, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
- Glance 0.8.6 deployed instantly
- Official image pinned by digest
- Login created at install time
- Free SSL certificate
- Server backups and snapshots
- Server security updates included
- 30+ server locations
- Unused balance refunded
What You Can Do With Glance
Replace a hosted feed reader
Move your RSS subscriptions into widgets on a page you host, so the reading list, the weather and the calendar share one tab and no reader service holds your subscriptions.
Build a browser start page for the team
Give colleagues one address with shared bookmarks, a calendar and the feeds the team follows, instead of each person keeping a private browser homepage that drifts out of date.
Watch release feeds for your stack
Collect the release and blog feeds of the tools you run into one column, so a new version of your software shows up where you will see it.
Keep a phone-friendly morning page
Open one mobile-optimised page for weather, headlines and market prices on the way to work, with the layout you arranged yourself.
Glance vs Alternatives
- Feedly
- Glance reads RSS feeds in widgets alongside weather, calendars and bookmarks on one page you host, configured in a YAML file instead of an account in someone else's service.
- Homepage
- Glance puts feeds, calendars and bookmarks on layouts configured through a single glance.yml, with themes and custom CSS.
- Dashy
- Glance is edited as YAML in a file, uses minimal vanilla JavaScript and ships as a single small binary and Docker container, with low memory usage.
- Homarr
- Glance leans toward feeds and information widgets such as RSS, weather, market prices and release feeds. Homarr also has an xCloud page if you want to compare.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.
xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Blaine MooreFrequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
How do I configure Glance widgets?
Edit glance.yml inside the Glance container; the file lives in the glance_config volume. Add or change pages, columns and widgets, save, and Glance validates and reloads it without a restart. The xCloud Environment editor does not change the layout.
Does Glance support RSS feeds?
Yes. RSS is one of Glance's core widgets, and you list feed URLs, a limit and a cache time in glance.yml. The starter page ships without any feeds, so nothing third-party is fetched until you add your own.
Glance vs Homepage: which dashboard is better?
Neither wins outright; it depends on what you want on the page. Glance focuses on feeds, calendars, bookmarks and information widgets, laid out by YAML, with themes and custom CSS. Try it on a small server and compare against your current start page.
Can Glance show server stats?
Upstream lists a server stats widget and a Docker container status widget, and you configure them in glance.yml. This template adds no host access or credentials for them, so read the upstream configuration docs for what each widget needs before enabling it.
Can I self-host Glance with Docker?
Yes, and this template is Glance Docker hosting done for you. It runs the official image, pinned by digest, with port 8080 bound to localhost behind xCloud's HTTPS, and two volumes for config and assets. You write no compose file and run no docker command.
What does Glance cloud hosting on xCloud include?
A dedicated Cloud VPS that we provision, patch and monitor, with Glance running, HTTPS on your domain and your login created at install time. The configuration and any assets you add belong to you, and other apps can share the server.
How much RAM does Glance need?
Glance needs one core, 512 MB of RAM and 2 GB of disk by the catalog's reckoning, so the 6 GB plan is roomy. Widget count, refresh intervals and the size of remote feeds can increase real usage, but Glance itself is lightweight.
How do I update Glance?
Nothing updates itself: the template pins Glance v0.8.6 by digest, and existing sites are not upgraded when the catalog changes. Back up both volumes, read upstream's release notes and configuration changes, update the image on purpose, then check the login and every widget.
What should I back up for Glance?
Both volumes: glance_config holds glance.yml, the session secret and your password hash, while glance_assets holds your own icons and static files. Restore them together under the same project identity, and keep a backup before you rewrite the config.
Is Glance free and open source?
Yes. Glance is released under AGPL-3.0 and its code is on GitHub. xCloud bills you for the Cloud VPS underneath, not the dashboard, and your glance.yml, assets and login are yours; no feature in this template sits behind a paid tier.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
