What is Dashy?

Self-hosted Dashy is a personal dashboard. Its README describes real-time status monitoring for each of your apps, links and hosts, widgets showing data from self-hosted services, instant search with hotkeys, many themes with a colour editor and custom CSS, icon options, optional multi-user authentication with SSO, multiple pages, and configuration in a single YAML file or through a UI editor. It stands in for a hosted start page when you want your links and status checks on your own server. The licence is MIT.

How much RAM does Dashy need?

The manifest asks for 1 CPU core, 1 GiB of RAM and 4 GiB of disk as a floor for Dashy. The 6 GB Cloud VPS sold on this page is the entry rung and leaves real headroom; upstream notes that 1 GB of memory is generally more than enough.

Is Dashy free and open source?

Yes. Dashy is MIT licensed, per the LICENSE file at the 4.5.0 tag, and its README calls it 100% free and open source. There is no licence fee; xCloud bills only for the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your configuration stays on the dashy_data volume.

Can you run Dashy with Docker?

How do I change the Dashy password?

The initial credentials apply only when conf.yml is first created, so changing ADMIN_USER or ADMIN_PASSWORD later does not rewrite an existing dashboard. Generate a new SHA-256 hash without a trailing newline, replace it in the auth section of conf.yml, and keep a copy of the old file.

Is Dashy's login enough for the public internet?

Dashy's built-in authentication is intended for trusted or private use and has no MFA, rate limiting or audit log. For an internet-facing dashboard, put a hardened access layer or an OIDC provider in front, as upstream describes.

Can Dashy widgets hold API tokens safely?

Widgets can call third-party services, so add tokens and private endpoints only through Dashy's protected configuration. Keep them out of public screenshots and shared copies of conf.yml, since the file holds whatever you put in it, and back it up as sensitive.

Does Dashy support multiple users and SSO?

Per its README, optional authentication with multi-user access, configurable privileges and SSO support. Is this Dashy cloud hosting?

What you run is your own dashboard on a dedicated server that xCloud provisions, not a hosted start-page service. The container and the volume belong to your install, Dashy stays on an internal port, and it is served over HTTPS on your domain.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
