Healthchecks Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Healthchecks hosting and get cron job monitoring self-hosted on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Healthchecks 4.4 image with a private PostgreSQL 16 database, creates the administrator account from the email you give, closes public registration and publishes it over HTTPS, so each scheduled task gets its own ping URL and you hear about it once one of them misses its grace time.

What is Healthchecks?

Healthchecks is a cron job monitoring service. It listens for HTTP requests and email messages, called pings, from your scheduled tasks, called checks, and sends out alerts when a ping does not arrive on time. Run as self-hosted Healthchecks, it is an open-source option for anyone comparing Cronitor or Dead Man's Snitch, with a web dashboard, an API, status badges, monthly reports and more than 25 notification integrations. It is built on Django and licensed under BSD-3-Clause. This page is for the open-source software, not the hosted healthchecks.io service.

On xCloud the template deploys Healthchecks 4.4 as the official image, pinned by digest, with a private PostgreSQL 16 sidecar that publishes no port. All state sits in the healthchecks_db volume. The administrator is created from your email and a generated password, public registration is off, and outbound email is left unconfigured until you add SMTP.

From Sign-Up to a Live Monitor In Just 3 Easy Steps

A cron monitor normally means an app container, a PostgreSQL database, secrets, a domain and a certificate before the first job reports in. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Healthchecks from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, and enter the administrator email; xCloud generates the password.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start the Healthchecks 4.4 image pinned by digest with a private PostgreSQL 16 sidecar, mount healthchecks_db, generate the database passwords and Django secret, and publish HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Create Your First Check

Sign in with the administrator email and the generated password, create a check, then paste its ping URL into your cron job or worker so each successful run sends a request.

Everything Healthchecks Does, On Your Own Server

Healthchecks runs here with its dashboard, schedules and alerts, backed by a PostgreSQL database that only the app can reach.

  • Ping URLs For Every Job

Each check gets a unique URL. Your cron job or worker requests it when it finishes, and Healthchecks alerts you when the expected ping stops arriving.

  • Period, Grace Time And Cron

Set the expected period and a grace time before alerts fire, or define the schedule as a cron expression for jobs that run at fixed times.

  • A Live Checks Dashboard

The My Checks screen shows the status of every job in a live-updating dashboard, and each check keeps an event log of its pings.

  • Many Notification Channels

More than 25 integrations deliver alerts, including Slack, Discord, Telegram, Signal, Matrix, PagerDuty and Apprise. You set them up after install.

  • Status Badges

Public but hard-to-guess badge URLs let you show a check's state in a README, dashboard or status page.

  • Projects And Team Access

Group checks into projects and give team members access, including read-only access. WebAuthn two-factor sign-in works once RP_ID is set.

Everything You Need To Run Your Cron Monitoring 24/7

Managed hosting for Healthchecks, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Healthchecks 4.4 deployed instantly
  • Private PostgreSQL included
  • Admin login generated for you
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Healthchecks

  • Monitor cron jobs with ping requests

Add one request to the end of a backup or report script, and Healthchecks tells you when a night passes without it. You find out about a silent failure the next morning, not weeks later.

  • Catch a stalled queue worker

Give a background worker its own check with a period matching its heartbeat, so a worker that hangs or crashes without logging an error still raises an alert.

  • Alert the on-call channel in chat

Route failed checks to Slack, Telegram or PagerDuty so the person on call is told in the tool they already watch, rather than discovering a missed job from a customer.

  • Show job health on a team dashboard

Embed a status badge in a README or internal page so everyone sees whether the nightly import last ran, without needing a login to the monitoring app.

Healthchecks vs Alternatives

Cronitor
Cronitor is a hosted cron monitoring service. Healthchecks does the dead-man's-switch job of alerting when a scheduled task stops pinging, but runs on your own server with the checks stored in your PostgreSQL.
Dead Man's Snitch
Dead Man's Snitch (also written dead mans snitch) calls itself a cron job monitoring service: each snitch has a unique URL your job requests, and an alert follows a missed check-in. Healthchecks uses a similar ping model, with period, grace time and cron schedules, on a server you own.
Uptime Kuma
Uptime Kuma has its own xCloud page. Healthchecks takes the passive side of monitoring: your job calls its ping URL, and the alert fires when that call is missing after the period and grace time.
Gatus
Gatus has its own xCloud page. Healthchecks needs no inbound access to the job itself: cron jobs and background tasks send outbound pings, and Healthchecks alerts when an expected one does not arrive.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I monitor a cron job with Healthchecks?

Create a check in the dashboard, copy its unique ping URL, and make your job request that URL when it finishes, for example with curl at the end of the crontab line. Then set the period and grace time, or a cron expression, to match the schedule.

Which notification channels does Healthchecks support?

Upstream lists more than 25 integrations, including Slack, Discord, Pushover, Signal, Telegram, Apprise, Matrix, PagerDuty and shell commands. They are not preconfigured in this template, so you add the ones you want after installation, with their own credentials.

Is self-hosted Healthchecks the same as healthchecks.io?

No. Healthchecks.io is the hosted service run by the project. This template deploys the open-source Healthchecks software, version 4.4, on your own Cloud VPS, with your own database, accounts and limits. xCloud has no partnership with the hosted service.

Does self-hosted Healthchecks need an email server?

Pings over HTTP do not. Outbound email, such as alert and sign-in messages, needs SMTP, which this template leaves unconfigured because credentials are deployment-specific. The inbound SMTP ping listener is omitted and no SMTP port is published.

Can I self-host Healthchecks with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Healthchecks Docker hosting done for you: the official image pinned by digest, a private PostgreSQL 16 sidecar, one localhost-bound port behind xCloud's HTTPS, and the healthchecks_db volume. You write no compose file.

What does Healthchecks cloud hosting on xCloud include?

A dedicated Cloud VPS that we provision, patch and monitor, with Healthchecks and PostgreSQL running, HTTPS on your domain and an administrator account created at install. The checks and ping history belong to you, and the server can host other apps.

How much RAM does Healthchecks need?

The template's catalog minimum is 1024 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk, and the 6 GB plan clears that for the app and PostgreSQL. Actual disk use depends on check volume, retained ping bodies and how much PostgreSQL grows.

How do I update Healthchecks?

Nothing updates itself: the template is pinned to Healthchecks 4.4 and catalog re-syncs affect new installs only. Back up and test-restore PostgreSQL, read the release notes, keep the healthchecks_db mapping, and verify migrations and pings. Never use docker compose down -v.

What should I back up for Healthchecks?

The healthchecks_db volume, where all application state lives in PostgreSQL. Take a consistent database backup before upgrades, keep copies off the server and test a restore on a disposable deployment. If you add external storage later, include that in your plan too.

Is Healthchecks free and open source?

Yes. Healthchecks is open source under the BSD 3-clause license, with its code on GitHub. The xCloud charge is for the Cloud VPS underneath rather than the software, and the checks and ping history on your instance are yours.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
