What is Hi.Events?

Hi.Events is an open-source event ticketing and management platform. Upstream describes it as an alternative to Eventbrite, Tickettailor and Dice.fm for organizers who want control over branding, checkout and data, with free, paid, donation and tiered tickets, promo codes, a branded organizer page, attendee export and QR code check-in. Self-hosted Hi.Events is an alternative to Eventbrite for conferences, club nights, workshops and festivals.

On xCloud the template runs the vendor-maintained all-in-one image at v1.11.1-beta, a beta tag, pinned by digest, with PostgreSQL 17 and Redis 7 private to the Compose network and three named volumes. The licence is AGPL-3.0 with a Section 7(b) condition: the Powered by Hi.Events footer must stay visible unless you buy a commercial licence. Email is off and Stripe is blank until you configure them.

Can you self-host Hi.Events with Docker?

Yes. For Hi.Events Docker hosting the template runs the vendor-maintained all-in-one image at v1.11.1-beta, plus PostgreSQL 17 and Redis 7, all pinned by digest. Only the web port reaches the xCloud proxy, and the database and cache stay on the private Compose network.

Is Hi.Events free and open source?

The source is open under AGPL-3.0, with a Section 7(b) condition that the Powered by Hi.Events footer attribution and link stay visible. Removing it needs a commercial licence from Hi.Events. xCloud charges for the dedicated server and deployment.

How much RAM does Hi.Events need?

The manifest asks for 2048 MB of RAM, two CPU cores and 10 GB of disk across the app, PostgreSQL and Redis. This page sells the 6 GB plan, which leaves roughly two-thirds of memory free for ticket-sale spikes, background queues and exports.

How do I sign in to Hi.Events?

There is no preset login. Open the URL on your credentials panel and register the first organizer account yourself, then create an organization and your first event. Registration is not closed by the template, so review who can reach the sign-up page once your organizers exist.

Can Hi.Events take payments?

Yes, through Stripe, which upstream supports for paid tickets. The Stripe values are blank by default, so configure the public, secret and webhook values in the environment editor and redeploy before selling. Free ticket types work without any payment provider.

Does Hi.Events send email?

Not at first. The initial install uses Laravel's non-delivering log mailer so no message can go out by accident. Configure a real SMTP provider in the environment editor and redeploy before relying on attendee emails, password recovery or invitations, then verify delivery.

How do I back up Hi.Events?

Back up the hi_events_postgres, hi_events_storage and hi_events_redis volumes together, and keep APP_KEY and JWT_SECRET with the copy because losing or rotating them can invalidate encrypted data and sessions. Use a PostgreSQL dump for a consistent database copy and test the restore.

How do I upgrade Hi.Events?

The application and both dependency images are fixed by digest and the app is a beta tag, so catalog updates reach new installs only. Back up the volumes and secrets, read the upstream migrations in the release notes, then adopt a newer template version. Test registration and a ticket purchase afterwards.

Can I run Hi.Events in the cloud on xCloud?

Yes. Hi.Events cloud use gives the app, PostgreSQL and Redis a dedicated Cloud VPS, with your domain and certificate in front. Prefer another provider? Connect that server as self-managed and deploy the same template onto it.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
