What is LavinMQ?

Self-hosted LavinMQ is a high-performance message queue and streaming server implementing AMQP 0-9-1 and MQTT 3.1.0 and 3.1.1, built with Crystal. How much RAM does LavinMQ need?

The manifest asks for 1024 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk as a floor, and the README stresses minimal RAM requirements. The 6 GB Cloud VPS sold on this page leaves plenty of headroom, and the data volume grows with durable messages.

Is LavinMQ free and open source?

Yes. LavinMQ is Apache-2.0 licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v2.9.3 tag, so you owe nothing in licences; xCloud's charge is the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your queues and messages stay on your own volume.

Can you run LavinMQ with Docker?

How do I sign in to LavinMQ?

With the administrator account xCloud creates during a one-time post-install bootstrap, shown in the protected credentials. The upstream default guest account is removed once your administrator is set up, so the guest login will not work.

Can I connect to raw AMQP on LavinMQ from outside the server?

Not with this template as shipped. Only the management UI is proxied through HTTPS; applications on the same compose network can reach the broker internally. Exposing AMQP externally is a separate network and firewall decision that you would take yourself.

Does LavinMQ support MQTT?

Upstream says LavinMQ implements MQTT 3.1.0 and 3.1.1 alongside AMQP 0-9-1. This template does not publish the MQTT port, so devices outside the server cannot connect to it out of the box; check your needs before relying on that.

Can I change the LavinMQ administrator password?

Editing the saved username or password in the Environment editor does not rename the account or rotate its password after the initial bootstrap. Rotate it on the server with lavinmqctl change_password, then update the credential you keep elsewhere.

What should I back up on a LavinMQ server?

The lavinmq_data volume as one unit, ideally while the broker is stopped or quiet. It holds broker definitions, users, queues and durable messages. Keep the administrator credentials private, copy the volume off the server, and test a restore.

How do I upgrade LavinMQ?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned release 2.9.3 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up lavinmq_data first, read the upstream release notes, then check sign-in and that a durable queue still holds its messages.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
