What is Directus?
Directus is a database-first backend and administration studio that provides REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication, file management, workflows and extensions over a SQL database. This template deploys version 12.2.0.
What is the licence situation?
Directus is licensed under the Monospace Sustainable Core License 1.0 with GPL terms; some functionality may require an Open Innovation Grant or a commercial licence. This template does not set or bypass a licence key, uses only the baseline functionality available without one, and implies no endorsement by Directus. Review the current licence and obtain any key you need.
How do I change the administrator password?
Inside Directus. ADMIN_EMAIL and ADMIN_PASSWORD are consumed only when Directus bootstraps a new database; changing them later does not rotate an existing account.
How do I rotate the database or Redis password?
Rotate the credential inside the service first, then update the matching environment value and redeploy. Do not change only one side.
Why can I not reset a password by email?
Outbound email is not configured by default. Add the EMAIL_* values in the Environment editor to enable password resets and user invitations.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
The pinned Directus image, the directus url, initial admin email and initial admin password shown in the credentials panel, persistent storage on directus_db, directus_uploads, directus_extensions, directus_templates and directus_cache, the domain and the HTTPS route. Directus stays on internal port 8055, reachable only through xCloud nginx.
What should I back up?
All five volumes together: directus_db (schema, users, collections, items, configuration), directus_uploads, directus_extensions, directus_templates and directus_cache (Redis AOF and session state). Use PostgreSQL-native backups for transactional consistency and treat uploads and configuration as sensitive.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update Directus?
No. The template pins Directus 12.2.0 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then update the image on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.
What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?
The template manifest asks for 2 CPU cores, 2 GiB of RAM and 10 GiB of disk as a floor for Directus. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that floor.
What survives a restart?
Everything on directus_db, directus_uploads, directus_extensions, directus_templates and directus_cache, because they are persistent named volumes. Restarting the container does not touch that data.
Is xCloud officially partnered with Directus?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Directus project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Directus project.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
