What is LinkAce?

LinkAce is a self-hosted link archive, released under the GPL-3.0 licence, for saving articles, bookmarking tools and preserving web content. Upstream lists lists and tags, multi-user sharing, OAuth and OIDC login, link monitoring that flags unavailable or moved links, automated archiving through the Internet Archive, a REST API, advanced search, a bookmarklet and HTML import and export. A self-hosted LinkAce is a private alternative to a hosted bookmark service such as Raindrop.io.

On xCloud the template runs the official LinkAce v2.6.1 image with MariaDB 12.0, Meilisearch 1.16 and Redis 8.2, all pinned by digest and kept on a private network, with two volumes: linkace_db and linkace_search. No default administrator is shipped. Optional SMTP, OIDC and S3 backups are not configured, so you add them later after reading the upstream requirements.

Can you self-host LinkAce with Docker?

Yes. For LinkAce Docker hosting, the template runs four containers: the official LinkAce v2.6.1 image, MariaDB 12.0, Meilisearch 1.16 and Redis 8.2, each pinned by digest. Only LinkAce is published, on a localhost port behind xCloud's HTTPS proxy; the other three expose no host ports.

Is LinkAce free and open source?

LinkAce is open source under the GPL-3.0 licence, so the archive has no licence fee. xCloud's bill covers a dedicated Cloud VPS plus the deployment. Optional services you later connect, such as SMTP or S3-compatible storage for backups, would be billed by their providers.

How much RAM does LinkAce need?

The manifest asks for 1.5 GB of RAM, two CPU cores and 10 GB of disk across the four containers. Metadata fetching, link monitoring, imports and Meilisearch indexing can need more. The 6 GB plan sold here leaves a comfortable margin above that floor.

How do I create the first LinkAce account?

No default administrator or generated credential is shipped. After deployment, open your domain's /register page and create the intended first account yourself. Review LinkAce's registration and sharing settings before you invite collaborators or publish any lists or links, since registration starts open.

Does LinkAce monitor links?

Yes. Upstream lists automated link monitoring that tells you when saved links become unavailable or are moved, plus automated archiving of saved sites through the Internet Archive. That archiving sends your link addresses to a third party, so decide whether it suits private bookmarks.

How do I back up LinkAce?

Back up linkace_db and linkace_search together. MariaDB is authoritative for users, bookmarks, lists, tags and settings. The Meilisearch index can be rebuilt but keeping it speeds recovery. Redis is a cache and is not persisted. Never remove volumes from an install you intend to keep.

How do I upgrade LinkAce?

All four images are fixed by digest, so a catalog change reaches new installs only. Back up both volumes, read the LinkAce and dependency release notes, then adopt a newer template version. Verify login, one private bookmark and search afterwards, and keep APP_KEY unchanged.

Can I import bookmarks into LinkAce?

Yes. Upstream supports importing and exporting bookmarks as HTML, so you can bring links from a browser or another service. It also offers a bookmarklet for saving from any browser and a REST API for scripts and other apps.

Can I run LinkAce in the cloud on xCloud?

Yes. LinkAce cloud use gives the archive and its database, search and cache services a dedicated Cloud VPS with your domain and certificate. If you already rent a server, enrol it as self-managed instead. Point your domain at it before opening the register page.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
