LNbits Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy LNbits hosting and run your own Lightning wallet and accounts system on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned LNbits v1.6.2 official image as a single container, generates the first-install token, mounts a persistent data volume and publishes the web interface and API over HTTPS in minutes — you then connect the Lightning funding source you already run.

What is LNbits?

LNbits is a free, open-source Lightning Network wallet and accounts system. It is a lightweight Python server that sits on top of a Lightning funding source you already run and adds isolated wallets, a clean API and an extension system, without locking you into a single node implementation.

All non-core features are installed as extensions, so each instance only carries what its operator needs. This template deploys LNbits v1.6.2, which is released under the MIT licence.

From Sign-Up to a Live LNbits In Just 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted LNbits normally means a container, a data volume, a first-install secret, a domain and a certificate before the first wallet exists. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick LNbits from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official LNbits image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with no separate database service, mount the lnbits_data volume for the SQLite database, keys, logs and installed extensions, generate the first-install token, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Create The Super User

Copy the First Install Token from your installation credentials, open /first_install on your HTTPS URL and choose the super user name and password. Then open Admin > Server > Funding and set a real funding source before you try to receive payments.

Everything LNbits Does, On Your Own Server

LNbits runs in full here: wallets, accounts and extensions on your own domain, on top of the Lightning funding source you choose.

  • Multiple Wallets And Accounts

Create isolated wallets on a Lightning backend you control, each with its own API keys, so an individual app never needs your full balance.

  • Invoices And LNURL

Accept payments through invoices and LNURL once a funding source is connected.

  • Extensions From The Admin UI

Non-core features are extensions, such as point-of-sale, installed from the Admin UI and kept on the data volume.

  • Bring Your Own Funding Source

Connect LND, Core Lightning, Phoenixd, another LNbits instance and other backends from Admin > Server > Funding, and switch later without changing your wallets.

  • A Documented HTTP API

Use the LNbits HTTP API to integrate wallets and payments into your own applications.

  • Sign-Ups Closed By Default

Public registration is off, so the super user decides who gets an account and can open sign-ups from the Admin UI.

Everything You Need To Run Your Lightning Wallet 24/7

Managed hosting for LNbits, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • LNbits v1.6.2 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • First-install token generated for you
  • App port bound to loopback only
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With LNbits

  • Wallets for a community or team

Give people their own wallets and accounts on a Lightning backend you control, with the super user deciding who gets an account.

  • Take payments with invoices and LNURL

Create invoices and use LNURL flows to accept Bitcoin payments through your own instance once a funding source is connected.

  • Run a point-of-sale

Install the point-of-sale extension from the Admin UI and use LNbits as the payment layer for a shop or event.

  • Integrate payments into your own apps

Use per-wallet API keys and the LNbits HTTP API so each application only touches the wallet it needs.

LNbits vs Alternatives

LNbits SaaS (lnbits.com)
Upstream also offers a hosted LNbits at lnbits.com. Self-hosting on xCloud means the instance, its data volume and the pinned version are on a server you control.
Running a Lightning node on its own
LND or Core Lightning provide the node itself. LNbits sits on top of one as a funding source and adds multiple wallets, users and extensions; the node is not part of this deployment.
OpenNode
A hosted service that upstream documents as a funding source LNbits can sit on top of, so you can use it behind your own instance rather than instead of it.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Can I receive payments right after install?

Not until you set a real funding source in Admin > Server > Funding. LNbits starts with the default VoidWallet, which cannot create invoices; that is upstream behaviour, not a defect.

How do I sign in the first time?

Open /first_install on your HTTPS URL, enter the First Install Token from your installation credentials and choose the super user name and password. The form closes once the super user exists.

Can strangers register?

No. Account creation is disabled by default. The super user can enable public sign-ups in the Admin UI.

Which funding sources can I connect?

LNbits supports many Lightning backends, including LND, Core Lightning, Phoenixd and another LNbits instance. Set one from Admin > Server > Funding. The node itself is separate and is not deployed or backed up by this template.

Do I need a separate database?

No. This is a single container and LNbits stores its SQLite database on the lnbits_data volume. Upstream can use an external PostgreSQL through LNBITS_DATABASE_URL if you configure one yourself.

Where do extensions come from, and do they survive a restart?

Extensions are downloaded from GitHub when you install them, so the server needs outbound internet access. They are stored on the lnbits_data volume, and wallets, settings and installed extensions survived an xCloud Restart in QA.

Should I change the First Install Token later?

No. LNbits treats a new token as a reinstall and resets the admin settings. Keep the token private and leave it unchanged once the super user exists.

Where do I change settings?

In the Admin UI. Most LNbits settings are read from the .env file only on the first start; afterwards the Admin UI is the source of truth and edits to .env are ignored. If you change the site's domain, also update the base URL in the Admin UI.

What should I back up?

The lnbits_data volume (SQLite database, keys, logs and installed extensions) and your stable .env values. Funding source credentials are stored in the database on that volume, so keep backups private.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update LNbits?

No. The template pins LNbits v1.6.2 by immutable digest; existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 2 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 200 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with LNbits?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the LNbits project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source LNbits project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
