What is Lowcoder?

Lowcoder is an open-source low-code platform for building internal tools, business applications and data workflows, and its README says it continues from the abandoned Openblocks project. Its three steps are connecting to data sources or APIs, building a responsive interface from more than 120 components with free layout, and sharing with colleagues and customers. Self-hosted Lowcoder is a builder you run yourself instead of renting a hosted one such as Retool. The Community Edition is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

Is Lowcoder free?

Yes. The Community Edition is open source under AGPL-3.0, whose file is linked here at the pinned 2.7.6 tag, so keep the notices and share source for modified versions. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS under it, not for Lowcoder, and there is no per-editor fee.

Can you self-host Lowcoder with Docker?

Yes, and this Lowcoder Docker hosting template does it for you: the vendor's all-in-one lowcoder-ce image, pinned by digest, is a single container on your own server, with HTTPS fronting port 3000. It is not a Lowcoder cloud account, so apps and data stay with you.

How much RAM does Lowcoder need?

Lowcoder requires 4096 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk at minimum, because MongoDB, Redis and the services share one container. That floor is why this page sells the 16 GB tier rather than the 6 GB one. Busy workspaces need more.

How do I sign in to Lowcoder?

Open your HTTPS address and sign in with the administrator email and password from the credentials panel, then create and publish your first application. The administrator is created during bootstrap, so there is no open setup form for strangers.

Can other people register their own Lowcoder accounts?

No. Public self-registration is disabled, and the only account at install is the administrator created during bootstrap. Decide deliberately who else gets access, because a user who can build apps can use the data sources you connect.

Are MongoDB and Redis separate services in Lowcoder?

No. Both run inside the same all-in-one Lowcoder container as internal components, with no host port published for either, and upstream's separate 3443 port is omitted. You interact only with the Lowcoder web interface, so there is nothing separate to manage.

How do I change the Lowcoder administrator password?

Sign in and change it from Lowcoder's own account or administration settings. Editing the bootstrap environment value later does not change the live password and is not a substitute for an in-application change. Keep a record of the new password.

How do I back up Lowcoder?

Back up the lowcoder_data volume together with the rendered environment. The volume holds MongoDB, Redis, application assets, plugins and logs, and the environment holds the encryption and service secrets needed to read that state. Test a restore on a disposable install.

Can I rotate the Lowcoder database encryption password or salt?

Not casually. Never change LOWCODER_DB_ENCRYPTION_PASSWORD or the salt without following an upstream-supported procedure, because stored data becomes unreadable. Treat them as permanent secrets, keep them with your backups, and test any change on a restored copy first.

How do I upgrade Lowcoder?

Your running 2.7.6 install is left alone when the catalog moves on; adopting a newer template version is your decision. Back up the volume and environment, read the Lowcoder release notes and test on a restored copy. Then open a published app to confirm it still runs.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
