What is MAZANOKE?

Self-hosted MAZANOKE is a simple image optimizer that runs in your browser, works offline and keeps your images private without ever leaving your device. Upstream describes adjusting quality, setting a target file size or maximum width and height, pasting images from the clipboard, converting between JPG, PNG, WebP and ICO, converting from HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, GIF and SVG, and removing EXIF data such as location and date. It is GPL-3.0 licensed, and it is an alternative to questionable free online compressors.

On xCloud the template runs ghcr.io/civilblur/mazanoke v1.1.6, pinned by digest, as the official static nginx image. Upstream Basic Authentication is configured from the access username and password you set at install. There is no persistent volume and no server-side processing, so images and working state stay in the visitor's browser.

Yes. MAZANOKE is GPL-3.0 licensed and its source is open. xCloud bills the dedicated Cloud VPS that serves the static files. The template adds no paid MAZANOKE tier, stores no application data, and your images never reach the server.

Can I run MAZANOKE with Docker?

Yes, and this template is MAZANOKE Docker hosting without the assembly. It starts the ghcr.io/civilblur/mazanoke v1.1.6 image, pinned by digest, as one container serving static files, with Basic Auth from your username and password and port 80 proxied behind HTTPS.

How much RAM does MAZANOKE need?

Because the server only delivers static files, the manifest asks for just 256 MB of RAM, one core and 1 GB of disk. We pair it with the 6 GB Cloud VPS for a MAZANOKE cloud install. Image work happens on the visitor's own device.

Are my images uploaded to the server?

No. Selected images and optimisation work stay in your browser and are never uploaded, as the template README states. The server only serves the application files behind your Basic Auth login. Anyone you give the login to can use the page.

Can MAZANOKE be installed as a web app?

Yes. Upstream lists an installable web app and offline use. The template serves the manifest file for that. Your browser may need to accept the Basic Auth prompt first, so open the HTTPS address, sign in, then use the browser's install option.

How do I back up MAZANOKE?

There is nothing to back up. The template has no persistent volume and no server-side application data, so only the access username and password in the Environment editor matter. Download every optimised result you want to keep, since browser working state is not a backup.

How do I update MAZANOKE?

Your install stays on its pinned v1.1.6 version until you adopt a newer template version. Verify the new upstream release and licence first, then adopt it and test an optimisation in your browser. To rotate the login, change both access values together and restart.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
