What is Note Mark?

Note Mark is a fast, minimal web-based Markdown notes app with GitHub Flavored Markdown, folders, note sharing, asset attachments, dark and light themes and OIDC single sign-on support. It stores data in a standard file and folder system, so notes stay portable. A self-hosted Note Mark is a Markdown notes app on your own domain instead of a hosted notes service. It is licensed AGPL-3.0, with the icon excluded.

On xCloud it is Note Mark 1.0.3, the vendor-published image pinned by digest, as one application container with no separate database. Users, notes, metadata and uploaded assets all live on the note_mark_data volume, and xCloud generates the secret that signs authentication tokens. How much RAM does Note Mark need?

Note Mark asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 3 GB of disk in its template. Note Mark is one lightweight container, so the 6 GB plan is far above the baseline; note and attachment volume and backup history decide how much disk you use.

Can you self-host Note Mark with Docker?

Yes, and this template is note mark docker hosting without the setup: the vendor-published image pinned by digest, one note_mark_data volume, a generated token secret and HTTPS on your own domain, with a small probe container used only for health checks.

Does Note Mark support single sign-on?

Upstream lists OIDC support for single sign-on. This template enables Note Mark's built-in sign-up and login and has no OIDC fields in the install form, so you create accounts through Sign Up unless you configure OIDC yourself.

Is there a generated login for Note Mark?

No. xCloud generates only the secret that signs authentication tokens, which is not a login. Open your HTTPS URL, choose Sign Up, create the first account and sign in. Internal sign-up is on, and anonymous user search is off.

Is Note Mark free?

Yes. Note Mark's code is open source under the GNU AGPL v3 licence, so the software has no licence fee; the icon is excluded and reserved. You pay only for the dedicated Cloud VPS, which makes it a Note Mark cloud of your own.

Can I take my notes out of Note Mark?

Upstream stores data in a standard file and folder system and describes the project as open source by design, so users can keep and transfer their notes. Copy the note_mark_data volume to take users, notes and attachments with you.

How do I back up Note Mark?

Back up the complete note_mark_data volume together with the AUTH_TOKEN__SECRET value from the Environment editor, and restore them together. The volume holds accounts, notes, metadata and attachments. Test a restore with a non-sensitive note.

How do I upgrade Note Mark?

The install stays on its pinned 1.0.3 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up note_mark_data and the token secret first and read the upstream release and migration notes. Nothing upgrades automatically, and the volume is kept.

Can I rotate the Note Mark authentication secret?

Not casually. AUTH_TOKEN__SECRET signs authentication tokens, so rotating it invalidates existing sessions and every user must sign in again. Keep it stable and private, and plan any rotation for a quiet moment.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
