What is OneDev?

OneDev is a self-hosted Git server that combines repositories, code review, issue tracking, package registries and CI/CD management in one application. Upstream describes it as a unified development platform, with language-aware code search, Kanban boards and a GUI for CI/CD jobs. A self-hosted OneDev is an alternative to GitHub or GitLab for teams that want one application on their own server, with the code under the MIT licence.

On xCloud it is OneDev 16.5.8 from the official 1dev/server image, pinned by digest, as a single container with its embedded database. Everything lives on the onedev_data volume at /opt/onedev. Git works over HTTPS only, because the SSH port is not published, and the Docker socket is not mounted, so Docker-based CI jobs are unavailable by default.

Can you self-host OneDev with Docker?

Yes. Upstream ships the 1dev/server image, and this template is OneDev Docker hosting without the setup: the 16.5.8 image pinned by digest, the onedev_data volume, a proxied web port and HTTPS on your domain, with no Compose file for you to maintain.

How much RAM does OneDev need?

The manifest asks for 2048 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk, which the 6 GB plan covers. Large repositories, packages and many concurrent builds raise the need, so size up before importing a big codebase.

Does OneDev support SSH cloning?

No, not in this template. The SSH port 6611 is not published, so clone and push over HTTPS only. Git over SSH would need a change to the template, and the page promises nothing beyond HTTPS.

Does OneDev have CI/CD?

Yes. OneDev includes CI/CD jobs you build in a GUI or define as code. In this template the Docker socket is not mounted, so jobs that need server-side Docker are unavailable by default, which avoids handing the app host-level Docker control.

Is OneDev open source?

Yes. The OneDev code is published under the MIT licence, so nothing is owed for the software itself. Your cost is the Cloud VPS that runs it, which makes this a OneDev cloud of your own and not a per-seat forge subscription.

Who is the first OneDev administrator?

You are. The template generates no administrator or password at all. Open the application URL, complete OneDev's built-in setup to create the first administrator, then sign in, create a private project and clone it over HTTPS.

How do I back up OneDev?

Back up the whole onedev_data volume, which holds configuration, the embedded database, repositories, packages and attachments. Stop the application or take a consistent snapshot before copying, restore the volume as one unit, and test the restore.

How do I upgrade OneDev?

The install stays on its pinned 16.5.8 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up onedev_data first and read the OneDev release notes. Existing installs keep their installed snapshot, and nothing upgrades automatically.

Can I use an external PostgreSQL database with OneDev?

Not in this template. It ships the embedded database inside the onedev_data volume, and external PostgreSQL and distributed clustering are outside this single-service baseline. SMTP and other integrations are configured later, inside OneDev's own administration screens.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. The 6 GB Cloud VPS is dedicated to you, so you can deploy other OneClick apps beside OneDev as long as the 2 CPU cores and 2048 MB of RAM it asks for stay free, and each app gets its own domain.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
