Poznote Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Poznote hosting and give yourself a private notes workspace on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Poznote 6.113.1 image as a single container, replaces the public default sign-in with a generated administrator password, mounts a persistent volume for your notes, attachments and SQLite databases, and publishes it over HTTPS in minutes — there is no separate database server to run.

What is Poznote?

Poznote is a free, open-source, self-hosted note-taking app. Upstream positions it as an alternative to Notion, Obsidian, Evernote and OneNote, and it supports rich-text notes and Markdown notes, with folders, tags, attachments, search, sharing and reminders.

It is built with PHP and SQLite and needs no external services: your notes are stored as .html and .md files in the data directory, alongside its databases. This page covers the pinned 6.113.1 release running as a single container on your own xCloud server.

From Sign-Up to a Live Notes App In Just 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted notes app normally means a container, a volume, a changed default password, a domain and a certificate before the first note. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Poznote from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the Poznote 6.113.1 image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with no separate database, mount the poznote_data volume, replace the built-in default password with a generated one, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Make It Yours

Save the initial password from the protected installation credentials, open your HTTPS Poznote URL and sign in as admin_change_me. On the welcome page pick your own username, then change the password under Settings.

Everything Poznote Does, On Your Own Server

Poznote runs in full here: a notes workspace in your browser, with your notes, attachments and databases on a server you control.

  • Rich-Text And Markdown Notes

Write in a WYSIWYG editor, or in a Markdown editor with a live preview and Mermaid diagram blocks — each note is its own file in the data directory.

  • Folders, Tags And Search

Organise notes with folders and tags, and find them again with full-text search across your notes.

  • Attachments Up To 750 MB

Attach files to notes; this deployment raises the proxy body limit so uploads of up to 750 MB go through.

  • Revisions You Can Restore

Poznote keeps earlier versions of a note's content, title and tags, lets you compare them with the current note and restore a previous state.

  • Sharing And Reminders

Share notes and folders with other users or through public links, and set reminders on notes. Email reminders need SMTP configured in Settings > Admin Tools.

  • Offline Notes In The Browser

Recently modified notes and your favourites stay available in the browser without a network, over HTTPS, and sync back when you are online.

Everything You Need To Run Your Notes App 24/7

What You Can Do With Poznote

  • A private notes workspace you own

Keep personal notes in your own space, organised with folders and tags, with the notes and databases on a volume you control.

  • Markdown notes with diagrams

Write in Markdown with a live preview and draw flowcharts or sequence diagrams from Mermaid code blocks.

  • Notes with files attached

Keep PDFs, audio and other files next to the notes that refer to them, with uploads of up to 750 MB.

  • Shared notes for a family or small team

Create profiles for other people, share notes, folders or whole workspaces read-only or editable, or publish a note through a public link.

Poznote vs Alternatives

Notion
Upstream describes Poznote as a self-hosted alternative to Notion: notes live in one SQLite database and a data directory on your own server rather than in a hosted workspace.
Obsidian
Upstream also names Obsidian as the app Poznote replaces. Poznote is a web app with multi-user profiles and sharing, opened from any browser on your server's HTTPS address.
Evernote and OneNote
Poznote is a self-hosted option to these hosted note apps: your notes, attachments and backups stay on your server and can be exported as a ZIP archive.
Memos
Memos is a lightweight self-hosted note-taking and knowledge base app with markdown support, tags and private posts. Poznote adds folders, revisions, attachments and sharing between users.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What makes Poznote different from a hosted notes app?

You own the data: notes, attachments and the SQLite database sit in one volume on your xCloud server, and the app is self-hosted and open source under the MIT licence.

How do I sign in the first time?

Use the username admin_change_me and the initial password from the installation credentials. xCloud replaces Poznote's public default password during install. On the welcome page choose your own username, then change the password under Settings.

Does Poznote need a database server?

No. It stores everything in a single SQLite database inside the poznote_data volume, so nothing else runs beside it.

Can I attach large files to notes?

Yes. Poznote accepts attachments of up to 750 MB, and this template raises the proxy request body limit to 800 MB so those uploads reach the app.

Do email reminders work out of the box?

No. Reminders can be set on notes, but email reminders need SMTP configured inside the app under Settings > Admin Tools; SMTP and S3 backup settings are not set through the environment.

Is the sign-in page public?

Yes. Anyone who can reach the site URL sees the sign-in page. Keep the administrator password private, and add HTTP Basic Auth at the access layer if you want a second gate; the template does not enable it.

What should I back up?

The poznote_data volume, which holds your notes, attachments, backgrounds, both SQLite databases and Poznote's own backups, plus the stable values in the .env file that xCloud generated.

What survives a restart?

Everything on the poznote_data volume. In QA the container was restarted and a saved note was still there afterwards.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Poznote?

No. The template pins Poznote 6.113.1 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. The app may show a new-version notice, but updates are not applied from inside the container. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 64 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Poznote?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Poznote project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Poznote project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
