Redis Hosting Live In 5 Minutes
Redis hosting on xCloud gives your application a self-hosted in-memory data store for caching, queues and key-value data, on a server you control. Deploy Redis from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the container, generates a 24-character password, turns on AOF persistence and shows you the host, port and connection string. There is no web interface to log into: Redis is a data service, so your own code or redis-cli connects straight to it.

What is Redis?
Self-hosted Redis is an in-memory data store: a fast cache, data structure server and document and vector query engine for real-time applications. It keeps strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, JSON and streams in memory, and adds pub/sub, transactions and Lua scripting. Teams run it as an alternative to Amazon ElastiCache for caching, queues and session storage. From 8.0 onward Redis is offered under a tri-licence: RSALv2, SSPLv1 or AGPLv3, at your option.
On xCloud this template deploys Redis 8.6 as the pinned redis:8.6-alpine image on your own Cloud VPS, with append-only persistence stored in the redis_data volume. It is a data service, not a web app, so there is no domain or HTTPS: clients connect to the server IP and a published port using the generated password. You own the server and the data in it. TLS is not enabled in this template.
From Sign-Up to a Live Redis In Just 3 Easy Steps
Running Redis yourself means a container, a password, a persistent volume and an open port before the first key is stored. Here that is one install form with a single password field.
Step 01
Sign Up
Create your xCloud account and pick Redis from the OneClick catalog. The install form asks only for a Redis password, and generates a 24-character one if you leave it blank.
Step 02
We Deploy It For You
One click. We start the pinned redis:8.6-alpine image with append-only persistence, mount the redis_data volume at /data, enforce your password and publish the Redis port on the server's IP.
Step 03
Connect Your App
Copy the connection string from the credentials panel into your application, or test it first with redis-cli using the host, port and password shown. Then restrict the port to your client IPs.
Everything Redis Does, On Your Own Server
This template runs the Redis 8.6 server with password authentication and AOF persistence, so the data and the connection stay on your own server.
Rich Data Structures
Strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, JSON, bitmaps, geospatial indexes and time series are all native Redis types, so one server can back several kinds of workload.
Streams And Pub/Sub
Streams give an append-only log with consumer groups, and pub/sub gives lightweight messaging, both without a separate broker to deploy.
Query Engine
Redis can index hash and JSON documents and run vector, full-text and geospatial queries, which suits search and retrieval workloads.
Transactions And Lua
Run several commands as a transaction or move logic next to the data with Lua scripting, cutting round trips between your app and Redis.
AOF Persistence
The template starts Redis with appendonly yes, so every write is appended to a log on the redis_data volume and the dataset survives a container restart.
Password Required
Redis starts with --requirepass and a generated password, with no username, so every client must AUTH before it can read or write a key.
Everything You Need To Run Your Redis 24/7

What You Can Do With Redis
Cache slow database queries for your app
Backend developers put Redis in front of a database to serve repeat reads from memory. Your app connects with the generated connection string and keeps hot results close, while the database handles writes.
Run background job queues between services
Teams that process emails, uploads or webhooks asynchronously use Redis lists and streams as the queue. Workers on other servers connect to the same host and port and pull jobs with consumer groups.
Broadcast live events with pub/sub
Chat, notification and dashboard features need a message pushed to many listeners at once. Publishers and subscribers connect to one Redis and exchange messages without adding a separate message broker.
Store sessions and counters with fast key-value access
Web apps keep login sessions, rate-limit counters and feature flags in Redis. Keys are read and written from memory, and AOF persistence means the data survives a container restart.
Redis vs Alternatives
- Amazon ElastiCache
- ElastiCache is a hosted caching service inside AWS. Running Redis on an xCloud Cloud VPS puts the server, the password and the redis_data volume under your own account, on a flat monthly server price.
- Valkey
- Valkey is a Redis-compatible data store with its own OneClick page. This template runs Redis 8.6, so choose the Valkey page if you specifically want that project's server and licence rather than Redis's tri-licence.
- Memcached
- Memcached is a separate caching server. Choose Redis when you want data types such as hashes, sorted sets, JSON and streams, plus pub/sub and Lua scripting, alongside key-value caching.
- Dragonfly
- Dragonfly is another Redis-compatible in-memory store with its own OneClick page. Pick it if you want that engine; pick this template for the Redis 8.6 server with AOF persistence and a generated password.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Blaine MooreFrequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
What is Redis used for?
Redis is used for caching, queues, session storage, pub/sub messaging and fast key-value lookups. It also supports streams, JSON documents and full-text and vector queries. In this template it runs as a plain data service that your own applications connect to by host and port.
Can you run Redis in Docker?
Yes, and that is what this Redis Docker hosting template does. It runs the pinned redis:8.6-alpine image under Docker Compose on your Cloud VPS, with append-only persistence on the redis_data volume, so you do not write the compose file, set the password or publish the port yourself.
How do I persist Redis data in Docker?
Mount a named volume at /data and enable append-only persistence. The template already does both: redis_data holds the AOF file and any RDB snapshots. Keep a backup of that volume, and for a logical snapshot run BGSAVE with redis-cli first so the saved data is current.
How much RAM does Redis need?
The template manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 1 GB of disk as a floor. Redis keeps its dataset in memory, so the real figure is your data size plus overhead. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves ample room above the floor.
Is Redis free to use?
Yes, you can run it at no licence cost. Redis 8.0 and later is offered under RSALv2, SSPLv1 or AGPLv3, at your option; read the LICENSE at the pinned 8.6 tag to choose. Here xCloud bills only for the Cloud VPS beneath it, not for Redis itself.
What is the difference between Redis and Valkey?
They are separate projects: Redis is the server this template runs, version 8.6 under a tri-licence from 8.0 onward, while Valkey is a Redis-compatible store with its own xCloud page. Choose Valkey hosting if you want that project; choose this page for Redis.
How do I connect to Redis with redis-cli?
Copy the host, port and password from the credentials panel, then run redis-cli -h HOST -p PORT -a PASSWORD, or pass the connection string with -u. There is no username, only AUTH with the password. The container's own healthcheck uses redis-cli the same way to ping.
How do I secure a self-hosted Redis server?
Restrict the published port to your known client IPs with the server firewall, because it is bound to 0.0.0.0 and reachable from outside. The password is enforced by default, but TLS is not enabled, and Redis ACLs can give each app its own limited credentials.
Can Redis be used as a message queue?
Yes. Redis lists and streams, with consumer groups, work as a job queue, and pub/sub covers fire-and-forget messaging. Your workers connect to the same host and port as every other client. Persistence is AOF, so queued entries survive a container restart.
Is this the same as Redis Cloud?
No. This is the Redis 8.6 server running as a container on a Cloud VPS you rent from xCloud, with your own password and data volume. It is not a Redis-operated service, and no partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Redis project is claimed.
How do I upgrade Redis?
Upgrades are not automatic. The template pins redis:8.6-alpine, which follows patch releases inside 8.6, and existing installs are not touched. To move to a new minor version, wait for a newer template version, back up the redis_data volume, then install it.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
