Valkey Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Valkey hosting and run a self-hosted Redis-compatible key-value store for caching, queues and sessions on a dedicated Cloud VPS. xCloud starts the pinned Valkey 9.1.2 image with a generated 32-character password, AOF persistence on a data volume and a 192 MB LRU-evicting memory ceiling, and shows a connection string you can paste into any Redis-compatible client, with no compose file to write.

What is Valkey?

Valkey is a high-performance data structure server that primarily serves key/value workloads. It supports a wide range of native data structures and an extensible plugin system, and was forked from the open-source Redis project right before Redis moved to source-available licences. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted Valkey, a Redis Cloud alternative that you operate yourself, and it is released under the BSD-3-Clause licence.

On xCloud it is one container, valkey/valkey 9.1.2 pinned by digest, with a password on the default user and append-only persistence on the valkey_data volume. Memory is capped at 192 MB with allkeys-lru eviction, so it behaves as a cache. Container port 6379 is published on a host port, with no TLS configured.

From Sign-Up to a Live Valkey In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Valkey server normally means a container, a password, a persistence setting, a memory limit, a data volume and a published port before the first key. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Valkey from the OneClick catalog. Choose a server and set the Valkey password of 16 to 64 characters, or leave it to be generated as 32 characters; there is no domain to set.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start valkey/valkey 9.1.2, pinned by digest, with a password on the default user, append-only persistence synced every second on the valkey_data volume, a 192 MB ceiling with allkeys-lru eviction, and container port 6379 published on a host port.

  3. Step 03

    Connect And Test

Copy the connection string from the credentials, or run valkey-cli with the host, allocated port, the default user and the password, and send PING. Restrict the port to your client networks with the firewall first.

Everything Valkey Does, On Your Own Server

Valkey 9.1.2 runs here as a password-protected, AOF-persisted cache, with its data directory on a volume you own.

  • Key-Value Workloads

Valkey is a high-performance data structure server that primarily serves key/value workloads, suited to caching, queues, sessions and pub/sub.

  • Native Data Structures

Upstream supports a wide range of native data structures and an extensible plugin system, beyond plain string keys.

  • Redis-Compatible Clients

Valkey was forked from open-source Redis, so Redis-compatible clients and the redis:// URI work. This page promises no particular module or command.

  • Password On The Default User

A generated 32-character password is enforced for the default user, so the public port is never open without authentication.

  • AOF Persistence

Append-only persistence, synced every second, writes to the valkey_data volume, so keys survive a restart of the container.

  • LRU Eviction At 192 MB

The template caps data at 192 MB and evicts the least recently used keys across the keyspace beyond that, so treat it as a cache, not a primary store.

Everything You Need To Run Your Key-Value Store 24/7

Managed hosting for Valkey, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Valkey 9.1.2 deployed instantly
  • Image pinned by digest
  • Password generated for you
  • AOF persistence on a volume
  • Connection string ready to copy
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Valkey

  • Cache database queries and pages

Put hot results in Valkey with a time to live, so your application reads them from memory, knowing least-recently-used keys are evicted past the ceiling.

  • Run job queues for your workers

Use lists and streams as queues for background workers, remembering that a capped, evicting cache is not a durable queue.

  • Share web sessions across app servers

Store sessions in one Valkey that several application servers reach over the published port, restricted to your own client networks.

  • Move a Redis client to a BSD-licensed server

Point clients at a Valkey endpoint forked from open-source Redis, keeping the same redis:// URI and client libraries, then test your own commands.

Valkey vs Alternatives

Redis Cloud
If your cache lives in Redis Cloud today, Valkey is the BSD-licensed fork you run yourself, and here it is one container on your own server that you firewall and back up.
Amazon ElastiCache
If you are weighing Amazon ElastiCache, with Valkey on xCloud you run a single self-hosted node with no failover, on a Cloud VPS in your own account.
Redis
Redis has its own xCloud page. Valkey says it was forked from open-source Redis right before the move to source-available licences, and it is BSD-3-Clause.
Dragonfly
Dragonfly has its own xCloud page. Valkey is BSD-3-Clause and accepts Redis-compatible clients, so compare the two templates for licence and memory before choosing.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Can I run Valkey in Docker?

Yes, and this template is Valkey Docker hosting without the compose file: valkey/valkey 9.1.2 pinned by digest, one container with append-only persistence, the valkey_data volume and container port 6379 published on a host port. A password is enforced for the default user.

Is Valkey a drop-in replacement for Redis?

It was forked from open-source Redis right before the licence change, so Redis-compatible clients and redis:// URIs connect to it. This page does not promise that every command or module behaves identically, so test your own workload before switching.

How do I connect to a self-hosted Valkey server?

Copy the connection string from the credentials, of the form redis://default:password@host:port/0, or run valkey-cli with the host, allocated port, the default user and the password. The port is the published host port, not 6379, and there is no TLS.

How much RAM does Valkey need?

The template baseline is 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 1 GB of disk, with the data ceiling set to 192 MB. Real needs depend on dataset size, command mix and persistence rewrites. This page sells the 6 GB tier, but the ceiling does not grow by itself.

What happens when Valkey reaches its memory limit?

It evicts. The template sets maxmemory to 192mb with allkeys-lru, so once data passes that ceiling the least recently used keys across the whole keyspace are removed. Do not use it as a primary store for data you cannot rebuild.

Does Valkey persist data to disk?

Yes. Append-only persistence is on, synced every second, and stored in the valkey_data volume at /data, together with any RDB snapshots. An xCloud Restart keeps the volume and stored keys, though evicted keys are gone for good.

Is the Valkey port exposed to the internet?

Yes: container port 6379 is bound to 0.0.0.0 on a host port, protected by the password only. Restrict it to trusted client networks with your firewall, and use a private network, VPN or TLS tunnel across untrusted networks, since no TLS is configured.

How do I back up Valkey?

Back up the valkey_data volume, which holds the append-only file and any RDB snapshots. For a consistent snapshot, authenticate and run BGSAVE before copying dump.rdb from the volume. Nothing schedules the backup for you, so test a restore.

How do I upgrade Valkey?

Nothing upgrades itself: 9.1.2 is pinned by digest, and existing installs stay on their installed template version until you move them. Back up the valkey_data volume, read the release notes, then adopt a newer template version and test your clients.

Is Valkey free?

Yes. Valkey is released under the BSD-3-Clause licence, so there is no licence fee. Preserve upstream's copyright and licence notices. Your plan pays for the dedicated Cloud VPS underneath, not for the software, and any client library or tool you add may carry its own terms.

Is this a Valkey cloud service?

It is Valkey on a dedicated Cloud VPS under your xCloud login, a Valkey cloud of your own with one node and no failover or replication. Runtime flags are read each time the container starts, so changes apply after Save and Redeploy.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
