Revel Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Revel hosting on xCloud lets you deploy Revel, an open-source event management, ticketing and membership platform for communities, clubs and independent venues, on your own domains. xCloud runs the pinned API, worker, scheduler and website with PostGIS and Redis, creates the first administrator and organization, keeps three volumes for your data and publishes both domains over HTTPS, so attendees and organizers use a site that belongs to you.

What is Revel?

Revel is an open-source event management, ticketing and membership platform for communities, clubs, independent venues and artists. It offers RSVP-only and recurring events, ticket tiers sold through Stripe Connect, QR tickets with Apple and Google Wallet passes, check-in by scanning, questionnaires that gate purchase, memberships and series passes. A self-hosted Revel is an event ticketing platform of your own, an alternative to hosted services such as Eventbrite. It is MIT licensed.

On xCloud it is Revel 2.21.0 from the official images pinned by digest: a Django API, a Celery worker and scheduler, the SvelteKit website, a Caddy gateway, PostGIS and Redis. Three volumes hold the database, queue and uploaded media. It runs on x86-64 servers only, on two domains, and sends no email until you add SMTP settings.

From Sign-Up to a Live Revel Install In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting an event and ticketing platform normally means an API, a website, a worker, a scheduler, a database and two HTTPS domains before your first event can go live. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account, pick Revel from the OneClick catalog, choose domains for the API and the website, and enter your administrator email and first organization name.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the Revel API, website, background worker, scheduler, media gateway, PostGIS database and Redis, run first-start migrations and the city dataset, and publish both domains over HTTPS. First start takes a few minutes.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Create Your First Event

Open the HTTPS Revel website, sign in with your administrator email and the generated password, change your password in account settings, then create your first event.

Everything Revel Does, On Your Own Server

Revel runs in full here — the same event, ticketing and membership tooling as any hosted event platform, on infrastructure you control.

  • Public And Private Events With Ticketing

Run public and private events with RSVPs and ticketing, for communities, clubs, venues and independent artists.

  • Organizations With Members And Staff

Organizations with members and staff, questionnaires and admission rules for events that vet who attends.

  • Two Domains: Website And API

The Revel website and the API, with docs and the Django admin, each run on their own HTTPS domain.

  • Background Worker And Scheduler Included

A background worker and scheduler handle emails, ticket PDFs, notifications, exports and periodic jobs.

  • Signed Links For Protected Files

Files that need a signed link — tickets, invoices, questionnaire uploads — are served only with a valid signature.

  • Data Survives A Restart

Events, uploaded logos and cover art, and sign-in all remained after a full restart in verification.

Everything You Need To Run Your Live Events 24/7

Managed hosting for Revel, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Revel 2.21.0 deployed instantly
  • API, worker, scheduler and website included
  • PostGIS database and Redis included
  • Generated administrator password
  • Free SSL certificate on both domains
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Revel

  • Sell tickets for a club night or workshop

Offer ticket tiers, including free, pay-what-you-can and fixed price, with Stripe Connect paying the money to your own Stripe account instead of through a platform.

  • Check guests in at the door

Issue QR tickets as PDF, Apple Wallet or Google Wallet passes, then let staff scan them at entry, so a small venue needs no separate check-in app.

  • Screen who can join a private event

Use questionnaires to gate ticket purchase or membership, keep private guest lists and blacklist unwanted attendees, so a community controls who attends.

  • Run a membership with members-only events

Sell monthly or yearly memberships and series passes, and restrict selected events to members, so a club or collective runs its programme in one place.

Revel vs Alternatives

Eventbrite
Eventbrite is a hosted ticketing marketplace. Revel is software you host, with Stripe Connect sending ticket money straight to the organizer's account and no Revel fee on a self-hosted install.
Hi.Events
Hi.Events has its own OneClick page. In a Revel vs Hi.Events comparison, Revel's own list includes memberships billed through Stripe, series passes, questionnaires that gate purchase and event discovery with a calendar view.
pretix
Upstream compares Revel's features and licensing with pretix. Revel is MIT licensed and built on Django, PostgreSQL with PostGIS and Celery, with a separate SvelteKit website.
Ticket Tailor
Upstream compares Revel's fees with Ticket Tailor and DICE. Self-hosting Revel means you pay xCloud for the server and Stripe for payment processing, with no ticketing fee to Revel.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How much RAM does Revel need?

The template floor is 2560 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk, because seven containers run, including PostGIS and a Celery worker. That is just above the 6 GB plan's usual cutoff, so this page sells the 16 GB plan.

Can you self-host Revel with Docker?

Yes, and this template is revel docker hosting without the setup: the API, worker, scheduler and website images pinned by digest, PostGIS, Redis and Caddy, three volumes, generated secrets and HTTPS on two domains. The Revel and PostGIS images are amd64 only, so the server must be x86-64.

Does Revel support paid tickets?

Yes. Upstream sells ticket tiers through Stripe Connect, so money goes to your own Stripe account, and also offers free, pay-what-you-can, pay-at-the-door and offline tiers. The Stripe keys ship commented out, so add your own in the Environment editor.

Can Revel send real emails?

Not until you configure it. EMAIL_DRY_RUN is on, so verification and password-reset links are printed to the container log instead. Add SMTP settings in the Environment editor and set EMAIL_DRY_RUN to False before inviting people.

Is registration open to the public on Revel?

Yes. Anyone who reaches the website can browse public events and register, though a verified email is needed to use an account. Organization creation is staff-only unless you set FEATURE_ORGANIZATION_CREATION to True.

Is Revel an alternative to Eventbrite?

For selling and managing tickets, yes. Upstream compares its fees with Eventbrite's and positions Revel as self-hostable and MIT licensed. You run the server and the Stripe account yourself, and email deliverability is your job.

Is Revel free?

Yes. Revel is open source under the MIT licence, and upstream says self-hosted installs pay Revel nothing. You pay for the Cloud VPS and Stripe's processing, so this Revel cloud install is separate from upstream's hosted service.

How do I back up Revel?

Back up all three volumes together: revel_postgres holds the database, revel_redis holds queue data and revel_media holds uploaded files. Keep SECRET_KEY unchanged, since it signs login tokens, and keep a copy off the server.

How do I upgrade Revel?

Revel stays on its pinned 2.21.0 images until a newer template version is adopted. Copy all three volumes beforehand and check the release notes. Migrations run at each start; no upgrade is automatic.

Can I change the Revel domains later?

Only the API domain freely. The website domain is the install's permanent identity, stored in the database and used in emailed links, so changing it also needs an edit under Site settings in the Django admin. Keep both under one parent domain.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
