What is Suwayomi Server?

Suwayomi Server is a free and open source manga reader server that runs extensions built for Mihon (Tachiyomi). Upstream lists installing and running those extensions, searching installed sources, a library with categories, automated library updates and chapter downloads, offline downloads, and backup and restore compatible with Mihon backups. Self-hosted Suwayomi Server is the alternative to a hosted reading app, under the MPL-2.0 licence, and provides no manga content itself.

Yes. Upstream lists Docker among its supported methods, and this template is Suwayomi Server Docker hosting already assembled: the v2.3.2243 image pinned by digest, one data volume, authentication on before ingress and HTTPS. It is your own Suwayomi Server cloud manga library.

How much RAM does Suwayomi Server need?

The template asks for 2048 MB of RAM, 1 core and 10 GB of storage, since Suwayomi Server is a Java server that runs extensions. This page begins at the 6 GB plan, leaving room for what the app itself needs.

Is Suwayomi Server free?

Yes, free and open source under MPL-2.0, with no fee for the software. You are billed for the Cloud VPS and its disk, cancellable any time. The library stays in a volume that you control.

Where does Suwayomi Server store its library?

In the suwayomi_data volume, mapped to /home/suwayomi/.local/share/Tachidesk. It holds configuration, the file-backed database, extensions, library metadata, reading progress, downloads and any backups the app makes. Downloads are what grow it, so size the disk for your collection.

Can I change the Suwayomi Server domain later?

You can, but treat it as a reconfiguration rather than a rename. Update the domain in xCloud and re-check anywhere the old HTTPS address was shared or saved, such as bookmarks and Mihon server settings, before inviting anyone back.

How do I back up Suwayomi Server?

Back up the whole suwayomi_data volume while the application is stopped, because the database and downloads change together. Keep the administrator credentials from the installation panel, and test a restore on a spare install before you rely on the copy.

How do I upgrade Suwayomi Server?

The install stays on pinned v2.3.2243 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up the data volume, read the upstream migration notes, then redeploy and check sign-in, the library and the reader. Existing sites are never upgraded automatically.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
