What is Svix?

Svix is a free, open-source webhook delivery service — it accepts messages over an authenticated API, signs outgoing webhook payloads, retries failed deliveries, and records delivery attempts. This template deploys v1.101.0.

Is Svix free?

Yes — the self-hosted Svix Server is free and open source under the MIT license. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.

Can I self-host Svix?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Svix Server image alongside a private PostgreSQL, PgBouncer and Redis, all pinned by immutable digest, mounts persistent volumes and publishes the API over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.

Who becomes the administrator, and how do I sign in?

There's no administrator account and no login screen — Svix is an API service. After installation, open your site's terminal and run svix-server jwt generate to create your first Bearer token yourself; xCloud does not generate or display one for you.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

A private PostgreSQL database behind PgBouncer, a private Redis queue, the PostgreSQL credentials, a 48-character main encryption secret and a 48-character JWT secret, both persistent volumes, the domain, and the HTTPS route. There are no installation-time fields to fill in beyond the domain.

What is MAIN_SECRET, and can I change it?

It's the generated value that encrypts sensitive application data inside Svix. It must remain stable on an existing installation — changing it makes previously encrypted data unreadable. Back it up alongside both persistent volumes.

What is JWT_SECRET, and can I change it?

It's the generated value Svix uses to sign issued Bearer tokens. Changing it invalidates every API token issued so far, so treat it as stable unless you intend to force every integration to re-authenticate.

What should I back up?

svix_postgres_data and svix_redis_data together, along with your MAIN_SECRET and JWT_SECRET values from your secrets manager. svix_postgres_data holds applications, endpoints, messages and delivery history; svix_redis_data holds queue state. A database-only backup is not a complete instance backup.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Svix?

No. The template pins Svix, PostgreSQL, PgBouncer and Redis by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Before changing any pin, back up both volumes and both secrets, review Svix and PostgreSQL migration notes, then verify application creation, message delivery and retries afterward.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template manifest asks for 2 GB of RAM, two CPU cores and 10 GB of disk as a floor for Svix alongside PostgreSQL, PgBouncer and Redis. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung with real headroom above that floor — the template README itself notes that webhook volume, retry backlog and payload retention can require substantially more.

What survives a restart?

Everything on svix_postgres_data and svix_redis_data, because both are persistent named volumes. Restarting the containers or running an xCloud lifecycle action does not touch your applications, endpoints, messages or queued deliveries.

Can I rotate the PostgreSQL password?

Yes, but rotate it inside PostgreSQL first, then update the matching value in xCloud's environment configuration and redeploy — never change only one side of the credential, or Svix loses its database connection.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Svix?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Svix has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Svix Server project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
