What is Tdarr?

Tdarr is a distributed transcoding and library health tool. It scans media libraries, applies plugin-based rules and converts video and audio with FFmpeg or HandBrake, all managed from a web interface.

Tdarr is proprietary software under the Tdarr EULA: free for personal use, with business use requiring a paid Tdarr subscription (tdarr.io).

How do I sign in?

Use the username admin and the generated password shown in the protected installation credentials. Keep it private: it grants access to every file in the media library and to plugins that run code.

How do I add my media?

Tdarr has no upload page. Copy files to the media library path shown in the credentials (for example with SFTP or rsync), give the Tdarr user ownership with chown -R 1000:1000 on that directory, then add a library in Tdarr with the source folder /media.

Does it transcode on a GPU?

No. This template does not enable GPU transcoding; transcoding runs on the server CPU and uses most of it while a queue is processing.

Can I add more Tdarr nodes on other machines?

Not with this template. Tdarr's server port 8266 for external nodes is not published, and only the built-in node is supported.

What runs alongside Tdarr?

Nothing else. Tdarr runs as a single container with its embedded database and one internal transcode node, so there is no separate database service.

Is Tdarr free to use?

Tdarr is free for personal use. Business use requires a paid Tdarr subscription (tdarr.io). It is proprietary software under the Tdarr EULA, not open source.

Is the sign-in page public?

Anyone who can reach your domain sees the Tdarr sign-in page, and the sign-in is the only protection. If you want a second layer, configure Basic Auth at your reverse proxy or access layer yourself; this template does not enable it.

Will Tdarr change my original files?

Transcoding replaces library files with converted ones by default, so test rules on a copy before pointing them at your only copy of a library.

What should I back up?

The named volumes — tdarr_server (database, samples, plugins), tdarr_configs and tdarr_media — plus the stable values in the site environment. tdarr_temp is a transcode cache and can be discarded. Back up the volumes while the site is stopped.

What survives a restart?

Libraries, settings and scanned-file records were still present after an xCloud Restart in testing, because they live on persistent named volumes.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Tdarr?

No. The template pins Tdarr 3.00.00 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 2 CPU cores, 512 MB of RAM and 20 GB of disk plus space for your media and the transcode cache. Measured idle use in QA was about 115 MiB, and transcoding uses more while a queue runs. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Tdarr?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Tdarr project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for Tdarr.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
