Upvote RSS Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Upvote RSS hosting and generate RSS feeds of only the popular posts from Reddit, Lemmy, Hacker News and more on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Upvote RSS v1.8.1 image as a single container, mounts a persistent cache volume and publishes the generator over HTTPS in minutes — there is nothing to sign up for or configure before you copy your first feed URL.

What is Upvote RSS?

Upvote RSS is an open-source application that generates RSS feeds of the popular posts from social aggregation sites. It supports Reddit, Hacker News, Lemmy, Lobsters, PieFed, Mbin and, for repositories, GitHub.

Instead of subscribing to everything a community posts, you set a score filter and Upvote RSS keeps only the posts above it. You build the feed in a web page, preview the posts, copy the URL and add it to any feed reader. This template deploys v1.8.1.

From Sign-Up to a Live Feed Generator In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting Upvote RSS normally means a container, a cache volume, a domain and a certificate before the first feed. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Upvote RSS from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in and no credentials to generate.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Upvote RSS image as a single container, pinned by immutable digest, mount the upvote_rss_cache volume and publish it over HTTPS on your domain. It is usually ready within about 30 seconds.

  3. Step 03

    Copy Your First Feed URL

Open your HTTPS Upvote RSS URL, pick a platform, a community and a minimum score, preview the posts, then copy the generated feed URL into your feed reader.

Everything Upvote RSS Does, On Your Own Server

Upvote RSS runs in full here: a feed generator on your own domain, with a cache that survives restarts.

  • Score-Based Filtering

Filter by score, by a threshold against the past month's average, or by a target number of posts per day, so a feed reader gets the number of posts you expect.

  • Seven Platforms, One Generator

Build feeds for subreddits, Hacker News, Lemmy communities, Lobsters, PieFed communities, Mbin magazines and GitHub.

  • Plain RSS For Any Reader

Open the site, copy the generated URL and paste it into the feed reader you already use, with a preview of the posts first.

  • Article Content And Comments

Optionally include parsed article content, featured images, estimated reading time, the post score and the top comments in each item.

  • Optional AI Summaries

Add a provider key such as Ollama, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, Mistral or DeepSeek, or any OpenAI-compatible provider, to put a short summary above the content.

  • Persistent Cache

API responses, parsed pages, AI summaries and resized images are kept on the upvote_rss_cache volume, which survives an xCloud Restart.

Everything You Need To Run Your Feed Generator 24/7

Managed hosting for Upvote RSS, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Upvote RSS v1.8.1 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Persistent cache volume
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Upvote RSS

  • Follow only the popular posts of a community

Set a minimum score or a posts-per-day target per feed, so a busy subreddit or Lemmy community reaches your reader as a short list.

  • One feed source for several platforms

Use the same generator for Reddit, Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin, Hacker News, Lobsters and GitHub instead of a different tool for each.

  • Read the discussion inside your feed reader

Turn on article content, the post score and the top comments to read a post and its best replies without leaving the reader.

  • Summarise articles with your own provider

Add your own AI provider key and each item can carry a short summary, with the cost and the provider under your control.

Upvote RSS vs Alternatives

RSS-Bridge
Generates RSS and Atom feeds for sites that do not publish one, using bridges maintained by the project. Upvote RSS is narrower: it focuses on filtering the popular posts of social aggregation sites by score.
RSSHub
Generates RSS feeds for websites that do not provide them, through a large set of routes. Upvote RSS is built around score, threshold and posts-per-day filters for a smaller set of platforms.
A site's own RSS feed
Many sites publish their own feeds. Upvote RSS adds a minimum-score, threshold or posts-per-day filter on top of the same communities, plus optional article content and AI summaries.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Do I need an account to use Upvote RSS?

No. There is no login and no setup step: open your domain, pick a platform, a community and a minimum score, and copy the generated feed URL.

Is the instance public?

Yes, by design. The instance only generates read-only feeds and stores no user data, and your feed reader must be able to reach the feed URLs without signing in. Anyone who knows the address can generate feeds.

Can I keep my instance private?

Yes. Use a private domain or Basic Auth at the access layer; this template does not enable Basic Auth itself. Your feed reader then needs to reach the feed URLs through that.

Does it need Reddit or AI keys?

No. Both are optional and off by default; the other platforms work without them. Add them from the site's Environment editor and redeploy.

What happens if I add Reddit or AI keys?

Because the instance has no login, every visitor can spend those quotas. Use a private domain or Basic Auth at the access layer if that matters.

Which platforms are supported?

Reddit, Hacker News, Lemmy, Lobsters, PieFed, Mbin and GitHub.

What should I back up?

Nothing essential. The only volume is upvote_rss_cache, a rebuildable cache of API responses, parsed pages, AI summaries and resized images; it holds no settings or accounts. Back it up only to avoid regenerating AI summaries.

What survives a restart?

The cache on the upvote_rss_cache volume. In QA a repeated feed request was served from cache in about 0.6 seconds versus 8.3 seconds cold after the cache was warm.

Is the cache private?

Do not rely on it. Cached feed data and request logs are kept under /cache and /logs inside the app and may be retrievable by direct URL to anyone who guesses a file name.

What can visitors make the server do?

Feed requests make the server fetch the addresses named in them, so visitors can make it request addresses they put in the feed URL. Restrict access if that matters to you.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Upvote RSS?

No. The template pins Upvote RSS v1.8.1 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release and existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 256 MB of RAM and 1 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 91 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Upvote RSS?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Upvote RSS project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Upvote RSS project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
