What is Grocy?

Self-hosted Grocy is a web-based groceries and household management solution for your home, billed upstream as ERP beyond your fridge. The template lists stock tracking with best-before dates, shopping lists, recipes, meal planning, chores, tasks and battery tracking. Upstream calls it a hobby project for your home, and it is MIT licensed. It is a self-hosted alternative to household inventory apps and to paper lists on the fridge.

On xCloud the template runs LinuxServer's grocy v4.7.1-ls341 image, which is Grocy v4.7.1, pinned by digest, as one container with nginx, PHP-FPM and SQLite. The grocy_config volume holds the database, config.php, uploaded pictures and files, and plugins. xCloud generates a 24-character password for the admin user, and the install form asks for no other fields.

Is Grocy free and open source?

Yes. Grocy is MIT licensed and its source is public. The LinuxServer container packaging around it is GPL-3.0. xCloud's price is the dedicated Cloud VPS that runs everything, and the template adds no paid Grocy tier.

Can I run Grocy with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Grocy Docker hosting without the assembly. It starts LinuxServer's grocy v4.7.1-ls341 image, pinned by digest, as one container with nginx, PHP-FPM and SQLite, proxies port 80 behind HTTPS and mounts the grocy_config volume at /config.

How much RAM does Grocy need?

Grocy's manifest floor is 1 GB of RAM, one core and 5 GB of disk. A Grocy cloud install on the 6 GB Cloud VPS sold here sits far above that. Uploaded product pictures and file attachments are what grow the volume over time.

What can Grocy track?

The template lists stock with best-before dates, shopping lists, recipes, meal planning, chores, tasks and battery tracking. Upstream describes it as groceries and household management for your home. After sign-in, set currency, locale and units under Settings, then create a location and a product.

Does Grocy have an API?

Yes. Upstream's README describes a REST API with an integrated Swagger UI at /api, and says the web frontend uses that same API for nearly everything. This page does not test any integration or mobile client against the template.

How do I sign in to Grocy?

Open your HTTPS URL and sign in as admin with the generated password from the installation credentials. Upstream normally creates admin with the password admin; this template never creates that default. Change the password inside Grocy later, because editing the environment value does not rotate the account.

Can other household members log in?

Yes. Add users under Users in Grocy, and each user can change their own password. Keep GROCY_DISABLE_AUTH set to false so every visitor must sign in. The template advises against changing the production mode setting.

How do I back up Grocy?

Back up the whole grocy_config volume. It holds the SQLite database, config.php, uploaded pictures and files, plugins and the container's nginx and PHP configuration. Stop the container or use an SQLite-aware snapshot first, keep an off-server copy, and test a restore with the same image version.

How do I update Grocy?

Your install stays on its pinned v4.7.1 version until you adopt a newer template version. Grocy migrates its database on the first page load after an upgrade, and rolling back the image does not reverse that. Back up grocy_config first and read the upstream changelog.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
