What is DVinyl?

DVinyl is a modern, self-hostable collection manager for physical media lovers. It catalogues vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, books, manga and comics, movies, video games, LEGO sets and board games, and can pull cover art and metadata from databases such as Discogs, Hardcover, TMDB, IGDB, Rebrickable and BoardGameGeek.

It is plugin based: each media type is a plugin that can be turned on or off per collection from the admin panel. DVinyl is open source under the MIT licence.

From Sign-Up to a Live Collection In Just 3 Easy Steps

A DVinyl stack normally means an app container, a MongoDB database, signing secrets, volumes, a domain, a certificate and a first-run setup page that anyone can reach. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick DVinyl from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, then set the administrator username, email and password — a strong password is generated for you.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official DVinyl image, pinned by immutable digest, with a private MongoDB 8.0 database kept off the public internet, mount the dvinyl_uploads and dvinyl_mongo_data volumes, create your administrator account through a one-shot init service, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Add Your First Record

Open your HTTPS DVinyl URL and sign in with the administrator username or email and the password shown in the installation credentials. Then add your first record, or import an instance backup.

Everything DVinyl Does, On Your Own Server

DVinyl runs in full here: a collection manager for your physical media on your own domain, backed by a database you own.

  • Many Media Types, One Collection

Track vinyl, CDs and cassettes, books, manga and comics, movies, video games, LEGO sets and board games in one place.

  • Wishlists And Statistics

Keep a wishlist of items you are hunting for and lay your collection out on a dashboard whose stat widgets you choose.

  • Optional Metadata Lookup

Pull in cover art and metadata from Discogs, TMDB, Hardcover, IGDB, Rebrickable, BoardGameGeek and ScreenScraper once you add your own provider keys.

  • Optional Single Sign-On

DVinyl supports OIDC login with providers such as Authentik, Keycloak, Authelia or pocketID; enable it with lines in the environment file.

  • Administrator Ready At First Boot

The administrator account exists from the first boot, and the setup page redirects to login afterwards, so a visitor cannot claim the instance first.

  • Albums And Images Survive Restarts

Item images and the database live on persistent volumes, and a stored album was still present after an xCloud Restart in QA.

  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots

What You Can Do With DVinyl

  • Catalogue a record collection

Keep every vinyl record, CD and cassette in one searchable collection, with a wishlist for the ones you are still hunting for.

  • Keep one library for every kind of media

Hold music, books, movies, video games, LEGO sets and board games side by side instead of in a separate tool per format.

  • Share a collection with family or friends

Invite people to a collection as admin, editor or viewer, or generate a read-only share link so anyone can browse it without an account.

  • Move an existing library in

Import a library from Discogs or Goodreads, or restore an instance backup, rather than re-entering items by hand.

DVinyl vs Alternatives

Discogs
A hosted music database where you can track a collection. DVinyl uses Discogs as its metadata source for music and can import Discogs libraries, while keeping your catalogue on a server you own.
Goodreads
A hosted service for tracking books. DVinyl can import a Goodreads library and covers books alongside music, movies and games in one self-hosted collection.
Spreadsheets
A spreadsheet works for a short list but has no cover art, metadata lookup, wishlist or per-collection sharing; DVinyl provides those out of the box.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I sign in?

Use the administrator username or email and the password shown in the installation credentials.

Can a stranger claim my instance before I do?

No. The administrator is created automatically at install from the values you set on the install form, and the setup page redirects to login afterwards. In QA the setup page redirected to login on the first request after provisioning.

What runs alongside DVinyl?

A private MongoDB 8.0 database on the internal network, and a one-shot init service that creates the administrator account and then exits.

Do I need API keys?

Not to run DVinyl. Metadata lookup from Discogs, TMDB, Hardcover, IGDB, Rebrickable, BoardGameGeek and ScreenScraper needs your own provider keys, added as optional lines in the environment file. Leave unused ones commented out, because an empty value counts as set.

Can I use single sign-on?

Yes, optionally. OIDC is configured with lines in the environment file, then redeploy.

What should I back up?

Both volumes: dvinyl_uploads (item images) and dvinyl_mongo_data (the database). Keep the administrator password private.

Can I import an existing DVinyl backup?

Yes. Instance backup imports are accepted up to 2 GiB by the app and the site proxy. If the domain is proxied through Cloudflare, its own request-size cap (about 100 MB on most plans) still applies.

What if I change the administrator values later?

Nothing happens to the existing account. The administrator values are read once, when DVinyl has no users yet; change the password inside DVinyl instead.

Does a restart sign users out?

Yes. Sessions are held in memory, so a restart signs users out. Your albums, item images and database are kept on the persistent volumes.

Does my server need a particular CPU?

MongoDB 8 needs a CPU with AVX support.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update DVinyl?

No. The template pins DVinyl 3.2.1 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 185 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with DVinyl?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the DVinyl project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source DVinyl project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
