Homebox Hosting Live In 5 Minutes
Deploy Homebox hosting and run a self-hosted home inventory on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Homebox 0.26.2 rootless image with embedded SQLite in a persistent volume, generates the API-key pepper and publishes it over HTTPS, so you can catalogue belongings, receipts and warranties from any device, with the photos and documents all staying on a server that only you control.

What is Homebox?
Homebox is an inventory and organization system built for the home user, written in Go and designed to stay simple. Run as self-hosted Homebox, it is a self-hosted alternative to inventory services such as Sortly. You organise items into categories, locations and tags, add custom fields, upload images and documents, and keep track of warranties, purchase dates and prices, and maintenance schedules. Upstream says idle memory use is under 50 MB for the whole container, and the project is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
On xCloud the template deploys Homebox 0.26.2 as the official rootless image, pinned by digest, in one container with embedded SQLite and a single homebox_data volume for the database, images and documents. Each registered user owns an isolated inventory. Public registration starts enabled so the first account can be created, and you turn it off afterwards.
From Sign-Up to a Live Inventory In Just 3 Easy Steps
A home inventory service normally means a container, a data volume, a generated secret, a domain and a certificate before the first item is catalogued. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Sign Up
Create your xCloud account and pick Homebox from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server; the install form has no application-specific fields.
Step 02
We Deploy It For You
One click. We start the Homebox 0.26.2 rootless image pinned by digest with embedded SQLite, mount the homebox_data volume, generate the API-key pepper and publish HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Register, Then Lock Registration
Open your domain, register the first account and add a location and an item. Once the intended accounts exist, set HBOX_OPTIONS_ALLOW_REGISTRATION=false in the site environment and use Restart/Redeploy.
Everything Homebox Does, On Your Own Server
Homebox runs here with its locations, labels and document tracking, with the database and uploads on your own server.
Categories, Locations And Tags
Organise items into categories, locations and tags, so the drill in the garage and the same model in the attic each have a place.
Custom Fields
Add custom fields to record extra details about an item, such as a serial number or a size, beyond the standard columns.
Photos And Documents
Upload images to recognise an item at a glance and attach documents and receipts to it. The default upload limit is 10 MB per file.
Warranty Tracking
Keep warranty details with the item and its paperwork, so the expiry date and the receipt are in the same record.
Purchase And Maintenance Records
Record purchase dates and prices, and track maintenance schedules for things that need servicing.
Search On Any Device
Find an item quickly with search, from a desktop, tablet or phone, because the interface is responsive.
Everything You Need To Run Your Home Inventory 24/7

What You Can Do With Homebox
Track warranties and maintenance in one place
Attach the receipt and warranty to each appliance, and record the dates it was serviced. When something breaks, the proof of purchase and the service history are in the same record.
Document belongings for insurance
Photograph every room's contents, add purchase prices and store the receipts, so an insurance claim starts from a complete list instead of memory.
Know what is in each box and shelf
Label locations like garage, loft and shelf, then put items in them, so finding the spare cable means searching rather than opening every box.
Inventory a small workshop's tools
Catalogue tools and equipment with custom fields for serial numbers, add purchase details and note maintenance, using a lightweight system that does not need a database server.
Homebox vs Alternatives
- Sortly
- Sortly is a hosted inventory service. Homebox covers items, locations, photos and purchase records, keeping the SQLite database and every upload in one volume on your own server, under the AGPL-3.0 licence.
- Snipe-IT
- Snipe-IT has its own xCloud page. Homebox is built for the home user with a focus on simplicity: items in categories, locations and tags, with photos, warranties and purchase records.
- Grocy
- Grocy has its own xCloud page. Homebox concentrates on belongings: items in locations and tags, with images, documents, warranties and maintenance schedules kept alongside each record.
- InvenTree
- InvenTree has its own xCloud page. Homebox is aimed at a home or small workshop inventory and runs as one container with embedded SQLite, so it needs no separate database service.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.
xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Blaine MooreFrequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Can Homebox track warranties?
Yes. Homebox keeps document and warranty details with each item, alongside purchase dates and prices and maintenance schedules. Upload the receipt as a document, add the warranty information, and the proof of purchase sits in the same record as the item.
Homebox vs Snipe-IT: which should I use?
Pick by the job. Homebox is designed for the home user: a simple system for household belongings, locations, tags, photos, warranties and maintenance records, running as one container with embedded SQLite. Snipe-IT has its own xCloud page, so you can try each against your own list.
Can I self-host Homebox with Docker?
Yes, and this template is Homebox Docker hosting done for you: the official rootless image pinned by digest, one unprivileged container on port 7745 bound to localhost, embedded SQLite in homebox_data and HTTPS from xCloud's nginx. There is no run command to maintain.
What does Homebox cloud hosting on xCloud include?
A dedicated Cloud VPS that we provision, patch and monitor, with Homebox running, HTTPS on your domain and the API-key pepper generated. The accounts, photos and documents belong to you, and the server can host other apps beside it.
How do I stop strangers registering on Homebox?
Public registration starts enabled so you can create the first account. After creating the intended accounts, set HBOX_OPTIONS_ALLOW_REGISTRATION=false in the site's environment editor and use Restart/Redeploy, then confirm registration is unavailable. Homebox does not promote the first user to a separate global administrator role.
Is there a file size limit in Homebox?
The default upload limit is 10 MB per file, which fits receipts and phone photos but may stop a large scanned manual. Disk also matters: the template's minimum is 2 GB, and uploaded images and documents all live in the homebox_data volume.
How much RAM does Homebox need?
Homebox lists 512 MB of memory, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of storage as its catalog minimum, so the 6 GB plan is generous. Upstream says idle memory use is under 50 MB for the whole container, so disk for photos and documents is what grows.
How do I update Homebox?
Nothing updates itself: the template pins Homebox 0.26.2 by tag and digest, and a catalog re-sync affects new installs only. Before moving to a newer version, back up homebox_data, read the upstream release and migration notes, and test the upgrade and a restore on a disposable install.
What should I back up for Homebox?
Make one backup of the homebox_data volume, which holds the SQLite database plus uploaded images, documents and configuration. Stop Homebox or take an application-aware SQLite snapshot before copying it, keep copies off the server, and test a restore. Keep the generated API-key pepper stable.
Is Homebox free and open source?
Yes. Homebox is open source under the GNU AGPL v3, with its code on GitHub. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS, not for Homebox, and the accounts, photos, receipts and inventory data on it are yours to keep.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
