Faridoon Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Faridoon hosting on xCloud gives your community a self-hosted quote collection on its own domain, for saving and publishing favourite chat quotes. Deploy Faridoon from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the pinned 2.5.0 image with a private MySQL 8.4 database, creates the administrator with a generated password, keeps public registration switched off, mounts persistent volumes and publishes the site over HTTPS. Quote pages are public to readers.

What is Faridoon?

Faridoon lets you easily save and publish your favourite chat quotes for others to see, according to its README, which says the project was inspired by bash.org, now offline. It is a Go service with a Vue 3 interface and MySQL. Its features include automatic highlighting of usernames, removal of stray line breaks and odd characters, user login and registration with admins and privilege-based moderators, and an approval queue for guest and non-privileged submissions. Self-hosted Faridoon is a quote site you run yourself. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

On xCloud this template deploys Faridoon 2.5.0, pinned by digest, with a private MySQL 8.4 database. Quotes sit on mysql_data and login sessions on auth_data. The administrator is created on first start and public registration is off. Anyone can read the quote pages, and the metrics endpoint is served without sign-in, so do not treat the site as private.

From Sign-Up to a Live Quote Site In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Faridoon stack normally means a web container, a MySQL database, a first administrator, volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first quote is saved. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Faridoon from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, and optionally change the administrator username (it defaults to admin).

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the upstream Faridoon image, pinned by immutable digest, with a private MySQL 8.4 database that has no published port, mount the mysql_data and auth_data volumes, run a short setup step that creates the administrator with a generated password, and publish the site over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Add Your First Quote

Save the administrator password shown in the protected installation credentials, open your HTTPS Faridoon URL and sign in at /login. Add the first quote, and turn on registration under Account, Settings if you want public sign-up.

Everything Faridoon Does, On Your Own Server

Faridoon runs in full here: a quote site with accounts and moderation on your own domain, backed by a database you own.

  • Save And Publish Chat Quotes

Usernames are highlighted automatically, and line breaks and odd characters are cleaned up, so saved quotes publish tidily.

  • Accounts And Moderators

Users can sign in, with admins and privilege-based moderators for the people who run the collection.

  • Approval Queue

Quotes from guests and non-privileged users wait in an approval queue; rejecting one deletes it.

  • Admin Settings

Site title, voting, registration, guest submissions and syntax highlighting are switched on and off from the admin settings.

  • Registration Starts Closed

xCloud creates the administrator for you and leaves public registration switched off, so strangers cannot create accounts until you decide to allow it.

  • Header Links, Webhooks And Audit Logs

Upstream also includes header links, an approval.requested webhook, audit logs and diagnostics.

What You Can Do With Faridoon

  • A quote archive for your community

Keep the funniest moments from a Discord, IRC or team chat in one public, browsable place instead of buried in scrollback.

  • A moderated collection

Let guests submit quotes while moderators approve or reject each one, so only what you accept is published.

  • A closed, invite-style site

Registration starts switched off, so only the administrator can sign in until you turn on sign-up under Account, Settings.

  • A self-hosted bash.org-style site

Run your own quote database with voting and syntax highlighting that you can switch on or off, on a domain you control.

Faridoon vs Alternatives

bash.org
bash.org is the quote site that inspired Faridoon, which its README says is now offline. Faridoon lets your own community run a similar collection on a domain it controls.
Pinned messages in chat apps
Faridoon keeps quotes on their own public pages outside any one chat, with an approval queue before guest submissions appear and moderators to review them.
Memos
Memos has its own OneClick page. Faridoon is built to save and publish chat quotes for others to read, with voting and syntax highlighting you can switch on or off.
Shaarli
Shaarli has its own OneClick page. Faridoon collects chat quotes rather than links, with admins, privilege-based moderators and an approval queue for submissions.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Faridoon free?

Yes. Faridoon is open source under AGPL-3.0, whose file is linked here at the pinned 2.5.0 tag; keep notices and share source if you modify it. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS under it, not for Faridoon, and upstream states there is no paid tier.

Can you self-host Faridoon with Docker?

Yes, and this Faridoon Docker hosting template does it for you: the upstream ghcr.io/jamesread/faridoon image, pinned by digest, runs beside a private MySQL container on your own server, with HTTPS in front of port 8080. It is not a Faridoon cloud account, so quotes stay on your server.

How much RAM does Faridoon need?

Faridoon lists a minimum of 384 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk, with MySQL's performance schema switched off to save memory. Upstream says about 1 vCPU and 1 GB of RAM is a comfortable size. The 6 GB tier sold on this page leaves ample room.

How do I sign in to Faridoon?

Open /login on your domain and use the administrator username and generated password from the credentials. The account is created automatically on the first start, which runs the database migrations and takes about a minute, so wait for that before signing in.

Can strangers register on my Faridoon site?

Not by default. Public registration starts switched off. To let people sign up, turn on enable_registration under Account, Settings. Visitors can still submit quotes as guests unless you switch that off, and submissions need approval by default before they appear on the site.

Is a Faridoon site public by default?

Yes. Anyone can read the public quote pages, and the Prometheus metrics at /metrics are served without sign-in. If you want an extra gate, add Basic Authentication at the reverse proxy or access layer, which this template does not enable. Do not publish anything you want kept private.

Does Faridoon have a moderation queue?

Yes. Upstream lists an approval queue for guest and non-privileged submissions, where rejecting a quote deletes it, along with admins and privilege-based moderators. Quotes are also tidied as they are added, with usernames highlighted and stray line breaks removed. Review the queue regularly.

What runs alongside Faridoon?

A private MySQL 8.4 container with generated credentials and no published port, and the first start waits for it before running the migrations. Feature switches such as registration and guest submissions are stored in the database, so edit them in the app rather than the environment.

How do I back up Faridoon?

Back up the mysql_data volume, which holds the quotes, users and settings, and the auth_data volume, which holds login sessions. For a consistent copy, stop the stack or take a mysqldump as the application user. Keep the database credentials with the backup, since they only apply when the database is first created.

How do I upgrade Faridoon?

A live 2.5.0 site is left alone by catalog updates. To upgrade, back up both volumes and read the upstream release notes, then adopt a newer template version without deleting volumes; migrations run on start. Then check that quotes and logins still work.

Is Faridoon an alternative to bash.org?

Its README says it was inspired by bash.org, which is now offline, and it serves a similar purpose: publishing chat quotes for others to read. It is not a mirror of that site's content. Your community supplies the quotes, so plan the moderation before you open submissions.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
