Flame Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Flame hosting and give yourself a self-hosted startpage for your apps and bookmarks on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Flame 2.4.0 image as a single container with an embedded SQLite database, generates the editor password, mounts a persistent volume and publishes the page over HTTPS in minutes — no file editing required, and no database server to look after.

What is Flame?

Flame is a self-hosted startpage for your server: an application hub that shows your apps and bookmarks as cards on one home page, managed from built-in GUI editors rather than configuration files. Run on your own domain it is a self-hosted Flame, the alternative to a hosted startpage service such as Start.me. It adds a search bar, a weather widget, themes and an authentication system, and it is licensed under MIT.

On xCloud it is deployed as a single flame:multiarch2.4.0 container pinned by immutable digest, with an embedded SQLite database on the flame_data volume, so there is no separate database server. The editor password is generated, the home page stays public and read-only until you sign in, and HTTPS is served on your domain.

From Sign-Up to a Live Startpage In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Flame setup normally means a container, a data volume, a password in the environment, a domain and a certificate before the first card. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Flame from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the Flame image pinned by immutable digest as a single container with embedded SQLite, mount the flame_data volume, generate the editor password, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Add Your First Card

Save the editor password from the installation credentials, open your HTTPS Flame URL, then go to /settings and sign in. Add your first application or bookmark from the built-in editor.

Everything Flame Does, On Your Own Server

Flame runs in full here: a startpage with built-in editors for applications and bookmarks, on your own domain, with data on a persistent volume.

  • Application And Bookmark Cards

Create, edit and delete applications and bookmarks from a built-in GUI, and pin favourites to the home screen for quick access.

  • Integrated Search Bar

Search the web from the home page with several built-in providers, or add a custom search provider of your own.

  • Themes And Custom CSS

Choose from 15 built-in colour themes, build your own theme, or add custom CSS to restyle the page.

  • Weather Widget

A weather widget sits on the home page alongside your cards.

  • A Single Editor Password

Editing needs the generated editor password (Flame has no usernames); items you mark private appear only after you sign in.

  • Data That Survives A Restart

Applications, categories, uploaded icons and the login session secret live on the flame_data volume and survived an xCloud Restart in QA.

Everything You Need To Run Your Startpage 24/7

Managed hosting for Flame, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Flame 2.4.0 deployed instantly
  • Image pinned by digest
  • Editor password generated for you
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Flame

  • A self-hosted application dashboard for your server

Keep one page with a card for each service you run, so every dashboard and tool is a click away on your own domain instead of a list of ports.

  • A bookmark hub with private items

Group bookmarks into categories and pin the daily ones to the home screen; mark items private so they only appear after you sign in.

  • A start page you edit without touching files

Add, edit and delete applications and bookmarks from the built-in GUI editors rather than a configuration file or a redeploy.

  • A search-first browser homepage

Use the integrated search bar with its built-in web search providers or your own custom one, with the weather widget alongside your cards.

Flame vs Alternatives

Start.me
A hosted startpage service run by its vendor; Flame lives at your own HTTPS address, with its SQLite data, icons and password on a volume you own.
Homer
A static start page built from a single YAML configuration file; Flame is edited through a built-in GUI instead.
Heimdall
Another application dashboard available as its own OneClick app; Flame keeps to application and bookmark cards, search, weather and themes.
Dashy
A personal dashboard with widgets, status checks and a visual configuration editor; Flame is a lighter startpage focused on application and bookmark cards.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Can I run Flame in Docker?

Yes, and this template is Flame Docker hosting without the docker run command: one pawelmalak/flame multiarch 2.4.0 container pinned by digest, the flame_data volume at /app/data and a generated PASSWORD. The optional Docker socket integration is not enabled here.

Does Flame have a login?

Yes, a single password and no usernames. Open /settings on your domain and enter the generated editor password from the protected credentials. The home page itself stays readable by anyone who knows the URL, and only items you mark private wait behind the sign-in.

Is Flame free?

Yes. Flame is free, open-source software under the MIT licence, so there is no licence fee for any number of cards or bookmarks. Your xCloud plan pays for the dedicated Cloud VPS underneath, and one server can host Flame beside the apps it links to.

Can Flame add apps from Docker labels?

Upstream offers a Docker integration that picks apps from container labels, but it needs the Docker socket mounted into the container. This template does not enable the Docker or Kubernetes integrations, so you add and edit cards by hand in the built-in editor.

Does Flame have a weather widget?

Yes. Upstream lists a weather widget with the current temperature, cloud coverage and an animated weather status, shown on the home page beside your cards. You configure it from Settings once you have signed in with the editor password.

Where does Flame store its data?

On the flame_data volume, mounted at /app/data. It holds the embedded SQLite database, uploaded icons and the generated token-signing secret. That whole volume is your backup target, together with your stable environment values, since nothing else carries your cards and categories.

How much RAM does Flame need?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 128 MB of RAM and 1 GB of disk; QA measured about 47 MiB idle and 62 MiB after use. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, which leaves plenty of room for other apps on the same server.

How do I change the editor password?

The password is read from the environment on every start. Change PASSWORD in the Environment editor and Save & Redeploy. A fresh install also shows a plain light default theme until you pick one in Settings after signing in.

How do I upgrade Flame?

Nothing upgrades itself: the template pins Flame 2.4.0 by immutable digest, and new installations use the pinned release. Back up flame_data, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule.

What survives a restart?

Applications, categories, uploaded icons and the login session secret live on the flame_data volume, a persistent named volume, so they survive an xCloud Restart, as QA confirmed. Nothing else in the container needs to be kept.

Is this a Flame cloud service?

No. It is Flame on a dedicated Cloud VPS under your xCloud login, a Flame cloud of your own at your domain, with nothing shared with other customers. The single container keeps no database server running beside it.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
