What is GrowthBook?

GrowthBook is an open-source platform for feature flags and A/B testing: create flags, roll them out gradually, run experiments and serve flags to your apps through SDKs. This template deploys version 5.1.0.

What is different about this install?

The owner account exists from the first second — you enter the owner email and organization name at install, and xCloud generates the password — so there is no open sign-up window for someone else to claim your installation. Open user registration still creates user records that have no access to any organization.

How do I sign in?

Use the owner email you entered and the generated owner password shown in the protected installation credentials panel. Change it in the app after your first sign-in.

What runs alongside GrowthBook?

A private MongoDB database, reachable only inside the install's private network with authentication enforced — it is not exposed to the internet.

Why two domains?

One domain serves the dashboard; a second, separate domain serves the API and SDK endpoint your apps call. Keep both domains under one parent domain so sign-in cookies reach the API.

Which limits does the free plan have?

One project and admin-only roles. SSO, bandit experiments and the visual editor need an Enterprise plan.

Does GrowthBook send email out of the box?

Email is optional. Without SMTP, invitations and password resets are not emailed.

What should I back up?

The database and uploads volumes, together with the stable JWT_SECRET and ENCRYPTION_KEY values. Changing the encryption key makes saved data source credentials unreadable, so leave it alone once set.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update GrowthBook?

No. The template pins GrowthBook 5.1.0 by immutable digest, with MongoDB pinned the same way; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the image tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 2 CPU cores, 2048 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 1.8 GB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

What survives a restart?

Your flags, SDK connections and experiments survive an xCloud Restart and a full container recreate, because the database and uploads volumes are persistent named volumes.

Is xCloud officially partnered with GrowthBook?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the GrowthBook project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source GrowthBook project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
