Haven Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Haven hosting and give your community or team a private chat server on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Haven 4.27.1 image as a single container with an embedded SQLite database, generates the admin username and session secret, mounts a persistent volume and publishes it over HTTPS in minutes. You register the admin account first, then decide who else can join.

What is Haven?

Haven is a private, self-hosted Discord alternative. Upstream describes it as a chat server that runs on your own machine, with text channels, direct messages, file sharing and voice, and no cloud account, telemetry or paid tier. One person runs the server and everyone else joins it from a browser. The code is under the AGPL-3.0 licence.

On xCloud it is Haven 4.27.1 as the upstream image, pinned by digest, in a single container with an embedded SQLite database, so there is no separate database to run. Everything it stores lives in the haven_data volume. Registration is open to anyone who can reach the address until an admin restricts it, so you register the generated admin name straight after install and then limit sign-up.

From Sign-Up to a Live Haven In Just 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted chat server normally means a Node.js runtime, a data directory, a reverse proxy, a domain and a certificate before the first message. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Haven from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server; there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start the upstream Haven image, pinned by digest, as a single container with its embedded SQLite database, mount haven_data, generate the admin username and session secret and publish it over HTTPS.

  3. Step 03

    Register The Admin

Open your HTTPS Haven URL, choose Register and sign up with the admin username shown in your credentials, then pick your own password. Then turn on a registration token, invite-only sign-up or the username whitelist so only people you invite can join.

Everything Haven Does, On Your Own Server

Haven runs in full here: a chat server for your community or team on your own domain, with its data on a volume you own.

  • Channels And Direct Messages

Text channels and direct messages for a community, team or friend group, with threads, replies, reactions, pins, mentions and search.

  • File Sharing In Chat

Share files in a conversation. Uploads default to 25 MB and an admin can raise the limit in the server settings.

  • Peer-To-Peer Voice

Voice chat runs directly between browsers, so audio does not pass through your server. Calls between different networks usually need a TURN relay, which this template does not provide.

  • Screen Sharing

Several people can share their screens at once in a tiled grid inside a voice channel.

  • Roles And Moderation

Roles with per-channel permissions, plus kick, ban, slow mode and an audit log for the admin.

  • Import From Discord

Upstream can import a Discord server's channels, messages and attachments from inside Haven, if you are moving a community over.

Everything You Need To Run Your Chat Server 24/7

Managed hosting for Haven, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Haven 4.27.1 deployed instantly
  • Upstream image pinned by digest
  • Admin username and secret generated
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Data on a persistent volume
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Haven

  • Run a community chat you control

Give a hobby group, club or open community channels and direct messages on a server and domain of your own.

  • Give a team a private chat server

Keep team conversations and shared files on a server you manage instead of a hosted chat service.

  • Move a Discord community over

Bring a Discord server's history into Haven and keep chatting under your own domain.

  • Talk and share screens with friends

Hold voice calls between browsers and share screens with a friend group, without a hosted voice platform.

Haven vs Alternatives

Discord
Haven is a self-hosted alternative to Discord: you run the server, so messages and files stay on your own hardware rather than a hosted service.
Rocket.Chat
Rocket.Chat has its own OneClick page. It is a team communications platform with federation and an apps framework, where Haven is a single-container chat server with embedded SQLite.
Zulip
Zulip has its own OneClick page. It organises chat by topic for asynchronous conversations, where Haven follows the Discord model of channels and voice.
Matrix Synapse
Matrix Synapse has its own OneClick page. It is a federated Matrix homeserver, where Haven is one self-contained server with no federation.
Mumble
Mumble has its own OneClick page. It is a dedicated low-latency voice chat server, where Haven combines voice with text channels and file sharing.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Can I run Haven in Docker?

Yes, and this template is Haven Docker hosting without the setup: the upstream Haven 4.27.1 image pinned by digest, a persistent data volume, a generated admin username and session secret, and HTTPS on your own domain.

How much RAM does Haven need?

The template baseline is 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk. The 6 GB plan is the starting point here, well above that baseline, so there is room for the operating system and for the server to grow.

How do I sign in to Haven the first time?

Open your domain, choose Register and sign up with the admin username shown in your installation credentials, picking your own password. The first account registered with that exact name becomes the server admin, and nobody else can take the name once an admin exists.

Who can join my Haven server?

By default, anyone who can reach the address can register. After you sign in as admin, open the admin settings and turn on a registration token, invite-only sign-up or the username whitelist. Basic Authentication in front of the site is optional and is not enabled by the template.

Does voice work across networks?

Voice runs directly between browsers. Calls between people on different networks usually need a TURN relay, which this template does not provide. The optional TURN_URL and TURN_SECRET settings are listed in the Environment editor if you run your own relay.

What runs alongside Haven?

Nothing. Haven runs as a single container with an embedded SQLite database, so there is no separate database service. The optional voice relay on port 40000 and the HTTPS listener on port 3001 are not exposed.

How large can uploads be?

Chat uploads default to 25 MB and an admin can raise the limit in the server settings. The web proxy accepts requests up to 500 MB, though a CDN placed in front of the site can still impose a lower limit.

Is Haven free?

Yes. Haven is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence, so the software has no licence fee. You are billed only for the dedicated Cloud VPS that runs it, which makes it a Haven chat server of your own.

How do I back up Haven?

Back up the complete haven_data volume with the container stopped. It holds the database, uploads and settings. Restore it together with the same JWT_SECRET, or everyone has to sign in again. Nothing schedules the copy, so run it yourself.

How do I upgrade Haven?

The install stays on its pinned 4.27.1 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up haven_data first and read the upstream release notes. Existing sites are never upgraded automatically, and the redeploy keeps the data volume.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.

Ready To Run Your Own Chat Server?

Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
