Home Gallery Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Home Gallery hosting and run a self-hosted photo gallery where you browse, tag and search your own photos and videos from a phone or laptop. xCloud starts the pinned image behind HTTP Basic sign-in with a generated password, keeps your library and index on a persistent volume and serves it over HTTPS at your domain name. There is no browser upload: you copy media into the Pictures folder, and the gallery imports it.

What is Home Gallery?

Home Gallery is a self-hosted, open-source web gallery, released under the MIT licence, for browsing personal photos and videos with tagging, a mobile-friendly layout and image discovery. Upstream describes a one-user gallery that serves all files from one or more media source directories, built for people who would rather not rely on a cloud service for their archive. A self-hosted Home Gallery is a private alternative to a hosted photo service such as Google Photos.

On xCloud the template runs the upstream xemle/home-gallery 1.21.0 image, pinned by digest, as one container with a single persistent volume, home_gallery_data, holding the configuration, cache and the Pictures folder. HTTP Basic sign-in is enforced on every start, and the similar-image, object and face detection features that would send previews to an outside API are switched off. Media arrives by copying files into the volume.

From Sign-Up to a Private Gallery In Just 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted gallery normally means a container, a data folder, a login layer, a domain and a certificate before the first photo appears. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account, pick Home Gallery from the OneClick catalog, choose a domain and set the gallery username (it defaults to admin).

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the single Home Gallery container, pinned by immutable digest, mount the home_gallery_data volume for the config, media index, previews and your Pictures folder, generate the password and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Add Your Photos

Save the generated password from the installation credentials and sign in. Then copy photos and videos into the Pictures folder of the data volume; the gallery watches that folder and imports new files. There is no browser upload.

Everything Home Gallery Does, On Your Own Server

Home Gallery runs in full here: a mobile-friendly gallery for your own library, behind a login and HTTPS on your domain.

  • Endless Photo Stream

Virtual scrolling lets you move through a large archive of photos and videos without paging through folders.

  • Tagging And Selection

Tag media, and select one or many items at a time to organise a library kept on your own server.

  • Expressive Query Language

Combine and, or and not operands to narrow the library to exactly the media you want to see.

  • Mobile-Friendly Interface

The gallery is built for fast browsing on phones and supports installing as a progressive web app.

  • Sign-In From First Start

HTTP Basic login with a generated 32-character password, and private, no-store caching on authenticated previews so a CDN does not serve them to signed-out visitors.

  • Cloud AI Detection Off

Similar, object and face detection are disabled in this template, so preview images are not sent to the public upstream API.

Managed hosting for Home Gallery, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Home Gallery 1.21.0 deployed instantly
  • Upstream image pinned by digest
  • Generated 32-character password
  • Persistent volume for your library
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots

What You Can Do With Home Gallery

  • Browse your archive from a phone

Open your photos and videos in a mobile-friendly gallery served from your own domain.

  • Tag and search a large library

Add tags and search across the whole archive instead of scrolling through folders.

  • Combine several photo folders

Serve images from more than one source directory, such as camera files and phone backups, in one gallery.

  • Keep family photos private

Protect the gallery with HTTP Basic sign-in and keep previews off third-party APIs.

Home Gallery vs Alternatives

Google Photos
If you store photos with a hosted service such as Google Photos, Home Gallery is the private, self-hosted alternative, with your files on a server you control.
PhotoPrism
PhotoPrism has its own xCloud page. Home Gallery is a one-user gallery that serves your folders as they are, with HTTP Basic login.
PiGallery2
PiGallery2 has its own xCloud page. Home Gallery offers tagging, an expressive query language and a mobile-friendly interface over directories on disk.
LibrePhotos
LibrePhotos has its own xCloud page. Home Gallery targets a single user, and this template runs it as one container with no AI sidecar.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Can you self-host Home Gallery with Docker?

Yes. For Home Gallery Docker hosting, the template runs the upstream xemle/home-gallery 1.21.0 image, pinned by digest, as one container on port 3000 behind the xCloud proxy. One volume at /data holds configuration, cache and Pictures, and no AI sidecar runs alongside it.

Is Home Gallery free and open source?

Home Gallery is open source under the MIT licence, so the gallery has no licence fee. Upstream calls it a private spare-time project without warranty. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS and the deployment, and your photo library is limited by that server's disk.

How much RAM does Home Gallery need?

The manifest asks for 2048 MB of RAM, two CPU cores and 10 GB of disk. Indexing a large import can run for a long time and uses more than the idle gallery. The 6 GB plan sold here leaves headroom for that, though your library also needs disk space.

How do I sign in to Home Gallery?

Open your HTTPS address and sign in with HTTP Basic using the gallery username you chose and the generated password on your credentials panel. Change them by editing ADMIN_USERNAME and ADMIN_PASSWORD in the environment editor and redeploying, because changing users only inside the app does not persist.

How do I add photos to Home Gallery?

There is no browser upload. Copy photos and videos into the home_gallery_data volume under Pictures, and the gallery imports new files on start and as they appear. An empty library is ready in about a minute; a large import takes much longer.

How do I back up Home Gallery?

Back up the home_gallery_data volume, which holds the gallery configuration, the generated cache and storage, and your Pictures folder. Because your originals live there too, a copy of the volume is also a copy of your library. Store copies off-server and test a restore.

How do I upgrade Home Gallery?

Version 1.21.0 is pinned by digest, so catalog updates only affect new installs. Back up the volume, read the upstream changelog, then adopt a newer template version. The gallery.config.yml file is created once and kept across redeploys, so your own settings carry over.

Does Home Gallery send my photos anywhere?

The template disables similar-image, object and face detection, so preview images are not sent to api.home-gallery.org. The gallery itself serves files only to people who pass its HTTP Basic login. Responses are marked private and no-store so a CDN does not cache them.

Can I run Home Gallery in the cloud on xCloud?

Yes. Home Gallery cloud use places the gallery on a dedicated Cloud VPS behind your domain and certificate. Connect a server from another provider as self-managed if you like, deploying this same template; size its disk for your originals.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
