Deploy K7 hosting and run a self-hosted movie and music media server for family and friends, with a web player, multiple user accounts and an OpenSubsonic-compatible API. xCloud starts the pinned K7 image beside a private PostgreSQL database, creates the first administrator from the username and password you set and serves it over HTTPS on your domain. There is no browser upload: you copy media into the server's media volume.
K7 is a self-hosted media server, released under the AGPL-3.0 licence, for a small circle of family and friends. Upstream describes one shelf for movies, TV series and music you own locally, with local sign-in, optional two-factor and OIDC, a guest mode, ffmpeg HLS transcoding, federation between two K7 instances, remote control, Sync Play and an OpenSubsonic-compatible API for mobile and desktop apps. A self-hosted K7 is a private alternative to a hosted media service such as Plex.
On xCloud the template runs the official ghcr.io/kaybi-gh/k7 1.15.0 image and PostgreSQL 18, both pinned by digest, with three volumes: k7_data, k7_media and k7_postgres. Transcoding is software only, with no GPU or hardware acceleration. The administrator is created automatically on first start. K7 reads media from the filesystem, so files are copied into the k7_media volume rather than uploaded from the browser.
A K7 stack normally means a server container, a PostgreSQL database, an administrator account, three volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first film appears. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick K7 from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, keep the default admin username or change it, and let xCloud generate the admin password.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the official K7 image, pinned by immutable digest, with a private PostgreSQL 18 database kept off the public internet, mount the k7_data, k7_media and k7_postgres volumes, create your administrator on first start, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Open your HTTPS K7 URL and sign in with the saved credentials; the first start applies database migrations and can take a minute or two. Copy media into the volume with docker cp ./Movies/. k7-<site-name>:/media/movies/ as a sudo user, then add a library in K7 that points at /media/movies.
K7 runs in full here: a movie, series and music server with a web player on your own domain, backed by a database you own.
Upstream describes K7 as one shelf for the movies, TV series and music you already own locally, instead of a separate tool for each.
Sign-in is required and self-registration is off by default, so only accounts the administrator creates can use the server.
Connect apps such as Symfonium or Feishin with an app password from Settings, External clients, through the built-in OpenSubsonic API.
Transcoding with ffmpeg and HLS plays files on devices that cannot handle the original format; on xCloud it runs in software, without GPU passthrough.
Playlists, collections, history, stats and reviews give each person their own corner of the shelf, alongside rule-based dynamic playlists.
PostgreSQL 18 holds libraries, users, playback state and API keys on the install's private network, with no published port.
Managed hosting for K7, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Give relatives accounts to watch films and series from one library you control.
Connect OpenSubsonic apps such as Symfonium or Feishin with an app password.
Link two K7 instances through federation to stream remote media without duplicating files.
Use Sync Play and remote control to start playback on a TV from a phone or browser.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Yes. For K7 Docker hosting the template runs the official ghcr.io/kaybi-gh/k7 1.15.0 image and PostgreSQL 18, both pinned by digest. K7 serves the web interface, API and SignalR WebSocket on port 7080 behind xCloud's HTTPS proxy, and the database is reachable only on the private network.
K7 is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence, so the media server has no licence fee. xCloud invoices the Cloud VPS and the deployment. Your media library is yours to supply, and storage for it comes from the server's disk.
The manifest asks for 1536 MB of RAM, one CPU core and 20 GB of disk across K7 and PostgreSQL. Disk is the limiting factor, since your movies and music live on the server. The 6 GB plan sold here gives memory headroom for software transcoding.
Open your HTTPS address and sign in with the admin username and password on your credentials panel; the administrator is created automatically, so no setup form appears for visitors. Self-registration is off and the guest account stays off until an administrator enables it. Change the password inside K7.
K7 has no browser upload. Copy files into the k7_media volume as a sudo user with docker cp, for example into /media/movies or /media/music, then create a library in K7 that points at that folder. If you set PUID and PGID, match them to the file owner.
Back up k7_data, k7_media and k7_postgres together. The media volume holds your library, the Postgres volume holds the database, and k7_data holds application data. Keep the API key hash secret stable with the copy, and stop the containers before snapshotting for a consistent copy.
K7 1.15.0 and PostgreSQL 18 are both pinned by digest, so catalog updates reach new installs only. Copy k7_data, k7_media and k7_postgres, read the upstream notes, and then choose a newer template version. Changing the API key hash secret invalidates every API key, so keep it stable.
Not in this template. Transcoding runs in software only, using ffmpeg and HLS, with no GPU or hardware acceleration. Heavy transcoding of high-bitrate video is therefore CPU bound, so prefer direct play on your clients where they can handle the original files.
Yes. K7 cloud use gives the media server and its database a dedicated Cloud VPS with your domain and certificate. The first start applies database migrations and can take a minute or two. A server rented elsewhere can be enrolled as self-managed.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
