Deploy MediaMTX hosting and run a self-hosted streaming media server that takes live streams over RTSP, RTMP, SRT or WebRTC and plays them back over HLS. xCloud starts the pinned image, generates separate publisher and reader passwords and serves HLS playback over HTTPS on your domain. The other protocols use their own ports, which you must open in the server firewall, and they are unencrypted.
MediaMTX is a ready-to-use, zero-dependency live media server and media proxy, released under the MIT licence. Upstream describes publishing, reading, proxying, recording and playing back real-time video and audio, with streams automatically converted between protocols such as RTSP, RTMP, SRT, WebRTC and HLS, plus authentication, a control API and hooks. A self-hosted MediaMTX acts as a media router for cameras and encoders.
On xCloud the template runs the bluenviron/mediamtx 1.21.2 image, the alpine ffmpeg variant, pinned by digest, as one container with no volume: its configuration is regenerated from install values on every start and nothing is recorded. Only HLS goes through xCloud's HTTPS. RTSP (TCP only), RTMP, WebRTC and SRT use separate ports, which are unencrypted and protected only by the two generated passwords.
Self-hosting a media server normally means a config file, generated credentials and five ports to open before a single stream can go live. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account, pick MediaMTX from the OneClick catalog, and choose a domain. There are no extra fields — xCloud generates the publisher and reader passwords.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the pinned MediaMTX 1.21.2 image and publish HLS playback over HTTPS on your domain. RTSP, RTMP, WebRTC and SRT get their own allocated ports.
Step 03
Open the five ports shown on the credentials card in your own server firewall, then publish to any stream name, for example rtsp://publisher:<password>@<server-ip>:<rtsp-port>/mystream.
MediaMTX runs here with ingest over RTSP, RTMP, SRT and WebRTC and playback over those plus HLS, on infrastructure you control.
Accepts RTSP, RTMP, SRT and WebRTC (WHIP) publishers and serves readers over the same protocols plus HLS.
A stream is created the moment someone publishes to a path — no per-stream configuration to maintain.
Separate generated publisher and reader accounts guard every protocol; verification confirmed unauthenticated clients are refused on RTSP, RTMP, WebRTC and HLS.
Play any stream back in a browser at https://<domain>/<stream>/index.m3u8, behind xCloud-managed HTTPS.
Verification measured about 14 MiB of RAM idle and 44 MiB with one live stream running.
Nothing is stored, so a Restart returns to a healthy server; streams are live only while a publisher stays connected.
Managed hosting for MediaMTX, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Publish RTSP streams from cameras and read them back over the protocol each player supports.
Send an RTMP stream from OBS and give viewers a browser-friendly HLS link.
Publish in one protocol and read in another without running a separate transcoder.
Require a publisher or reader account for every client instead of leaving streams open.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Yes. For MediaMTX Docker hosting the template runs the official bluenviron/mediamtx 1.21.2 ffmpeg image, pinned by digest, as one container with no volume. HLS playback sits behind HTTPS on your domain, and the raw streaming ports are each published on their own allocated host port.
MediaMTX is open source under the MIT licence, so the server has no licence fee. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS and the deployment. Bandwidth for your streams comes from the server's allowance, so very busy streams may need a larger plan.
The manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, one CPU core and 2 GB of disk. Idle use measured around 14 MiB in testing and about 44 MiB with one live stream, so memory is rarely the limit. The 6 GB plan sold here is far above it; bandwidth and CPU matter more.
Publish with the publisher account to any stream name, for example with ffmpeg to rtsp://publisher:password@server-ip:rtsp-port/mystream. RTMP, SRT and WebRTC WHIP work the same way, and OBS can use the RTMP address with an empty stream key. Read it back with the reader account, or in a browser as HLS.
Five besides HLS: RTSP and RTMP (TCP), WebRTC signalling (TCP), WebRTC media and SRT (UDP). xCloud never opens firewall ports, so open the allocated numbers from your credentials card yourself. They bypass the reverse proxy and any CDN, so point clients at the server IP or a DNS-only record.
There is no anonymous access: clients need the publisher or reader account. But RTSP, RTMP, SRT and WebRTC signalling are plain and send passwords in clear text, so use them on trusted networks or add TLS yourself. HLS in the browser uses HTTP Basic with the reader credentials over HTTPS.
Upstream can record streams to disk and play them back, but this template does not: it creates no volume and nothing is recorded, and the control API, metrics, playback and pprof are off. Streams exist only while a publisher is connected. Add recording yourself only after planning storage.
There is no data volume to back up, because the template creates none and the configuration is regenerated from install values on every start. Keep a private copy of the publisher and reader passwords from your credentials card so you can restore access. Any recordings you add yourself would need their own storage plan.
Version 1.21.2 is fixed by digest, so a catalog update reaches new installs only. Nothing is stored on disk, so there is nothing to migrate, but read the upstream release notes first, then adopt a newer template version. Changing the passwords drops connected clients on redeploy.
Yes. MediaMTX cloud use gives the server a dedicated Cloud VPS, with HLS over your domain and certificate. RTSP here is TCP only, so players that insist on RTSP over UDP will not connect. A server rented elsewhere can be enrolled as self-managed.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
