What is Microcks?

Microcks is an open-source, cloud-native tool for API mocking and testing. You import API artifacts such as OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, GraphQL, Postman collections and SoapUI projects, and it serves live mocks from them.

The same artifacts then drive conformance and non-regression tests against a real implementation, so a mock and the contract it came from stay in step. This template deploys version 1.15.0 with Keycloak sign-in.

How do I sign in?

Open the Microcks domain and sign in as admin with the password on the credentials card; Keycloak handles the sign-in and returns you to Microcks.

What runs alongside Microcks?

Keycloak with its own PostgreSQL 17, MongoDB 8.0, the Postman test runtime and a small nginx for Keycloak, all on a private network with no published host ports.

How do I add teammates?

Open the Keycloak sign-in domain at /admin/, add users to the microcks realm and give them the user, manager or admin role.

Why does the template use two domains?

Microcks and Keycloak each get their own xCloud-managed HTTPS domain. The Keycloak domain is the token issuer and the Microcks domain is stored as the allowed redirect address, so choose both before first sign-in, keep them, and keep them under one parent domain.

Are the mock endpoints public?

Mock endpoints are served on your Microcks domain and accept requests from any origin, which is the Microcks default. The management API returned 401 without a token in the verify run.

Does it include gRPC mocks?

No. gRPC mocks and the async minion are not part of this template.

How do I change the admin password?

The passwords are first-boot values. Rotate the Microcks admin password in Keycloak, not in the environment file.

What should I back up?

The microcks_mongo volume (artifacts, mocks and test results) and the microcks_keycloak_db volume (the Keycloak realm and users). Back up both before any upgrade.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Microcks?

No. The template pins Microcks 1.15.0 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the Microcks release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 2 CPU cores, 1536 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk; measured use in QA was about 1.2 GB idle and 1.36 GB at peak across the six containers. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

What survives a restart?

Imported services, mocks and Keycloak users sit on the named volumes and were still listed after restarting every container in the verify run.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Microcks?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Microcks project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Microcks project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
