Deploy Milvus hosting and run a self-hosted vector database for similarity search and retrieval-augmented generation, with authentication on from the first start. xCloud runs the pinned Milvus image in standalone mode as a single container, generates the root password, publishes the REST API over HTTPS on your domain and lists a gRPC port for SDKs such as pymilvus that you open yourself in your firewall.
Milvus is an open-source, high-performance vector database built for scale, written in Go and C++ and released under Apache 2.0. Upstream says it powers AI applications by organising and searching large amounts of unstructured data such as text, images and multi-modal information, and it works with the pymilvus Python SDK. Self-hosted Milvus is the option for teams that would otherwise store embeddings in a hosted vector service such as Pinecone.
On xCloud the template runs the official milvusdb/milvus v3.0.2 image in standalone mode, pinned by digest, as one container with the metadata store and object storage built in. Everything lives on the milvus_data volume. Authorization is on with a generated root password, the REST API is served over HTTPS, and gRPC is published on a TCP port that is not encrypted. The management port and WebUI are not exposed.
Self-hosting a vector database normally means standalone mode, authentication, a domain and a firewall decision for the gRPC port before a single collection exists. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account, pick Milvus from the OneClick catalog, and choose a domain. There are no extra fields — xCloud generates the root password.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the pinned Milvus v3.0.2 image in standalone mode with authorization on, the root password generated, and the REST API published over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Save the root password shown in the protected installation credentials, wait up to two minutes for first start, then call the HTTPS REST API with an Authorization: Bearer root:<password> header and create your first collection.
Milvus runs in full standalone mode here — the same vector search engine behind semantic search and RAG applications, on infrastructure you control.
Store and search vector embeddings for semantic search, recommendations and retrieval-augmented generation.
The metadata store and object storage are built into the single container — there are no separate services to provision.
The REST API (/v1/* and /v2/vectordb/*) is served over xCloud-managed HTTPS on your own domain.
Connect official SDKs such as pymilvus over gRPC once you open the allocated TCP port in your own firewall.
Authorization is enabled at install with a generated 32-character root password; requests without credentials get HTTP 401.
QA created a collection, restarted the container, and got identical get and search results back afterward.
Managed hosting for Milvus, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Store document embeddings in a collection and query for the nearest chunks, so a chatbot can ground its answers in your own content while the vectors stay on a server you control.
Search by meaning rather than keywords: embed queries and items with the same model, insert them with metadata and return the closest matches through the REST API or pymilvus.
Index item embeddings and look up the vectors nearest to what a user viewed. A developer can prototype this against a single standalone server before deciding on a larger deployment.
Teams with privacy rules can hold sensitive embeddings on their own Cloud VPS, behind a generated root password, instead of sending them to a third-party vector service.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Milvus is used to store and search vector embeddings. Teams use it for similarity search over text, images and other unstructured data, for semantic search, recommendations and retrieval-augmented generation. Your application creates a collection, inserts vectors with metadata and queries for the nearest matches through an SDK or the REST API.
Yes. Milvus is an open-source project under the Apache 2.0 licence, hosted by the LF AI & Data Foundation, so the software is free. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS hosting it and for the deployment, not for Milvus itself.
Yes, and for Milvus Docker hosting the template does it for you. It runs the official milvusdb/milvus image in standalone mode, pinned by digest, as a single container with the milvus_data volume, turns authentication on, generates the root password and puts the REST API behind HTTPS on your domain.
Upstream offers Milvus Lite, installed with pymilvus for a local file-backed database, and a fully distributed, Kubernetes-native deployment for scale. This template runs Standalone: one server container with the metadata store and object storage built in. It does not provide Lite or a distributed cluster, so plan cluster features elsewhere.
Install pymilvus and create a MilvusClient with the server address, the gRPC port shown in your credentials and the token root:<password>. Open that TCP port in your own firewall first and restrict it to trusted IPs, because gRPC here is not encrypted. The HTTPS REST API needs no extra port.
Yes, and it is on from the first start. The template sets authorization enabled and generates a 32-character root password; requests without credentials get HTTP 401. For REST calls send an Authorization: Bearer root:<password> header. Create separate users and roles for applications rather than sharing root.
The template manifest asks for 8192 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 20 GB of disk, and upstream recommends more for real workloads. That is why this page sells the 16 GB Cloud VPS and not the 6 GB tier. The CPU also needs SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2 or AVX-512 on amd64; arm64 is supported.
Yes. Under Milvus cloud use, xCloud sets up a dedicated Cloud VPS, deploys the standalone container and attaches your domain and certificate. Data sits on the single milvus_data volume. A box rented elsewhere can be enrolled as a self-managed server.
A Milvus backup is the milvus_data volume copied with the container stopped, because the metadata and object data must be restored together. For online copies use Milvus's own backup tooling. Keep your root password, since the credentials card keeps showing the original. Test a restore before you rely on it.
Milvus stays at v3.0.2 by digest until you decide otherwise. Copy milvus_data, read upstream's release notes, then choose a later template version, which raises the tag and digest together. Never delete the volume during the move, or every collection goes with it.
Milvus has no licence fee, so the cost is the server. Its manifest floor of 8192 MB of RAM selects the 16 GB Cloud VPS plan shown on this page, billed monthly with no lock-in. Heavy collections need more memory and disk than the floor, which you can add by resizing.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
