mStream hosting on xCloud gives you a self-hosted music streaming server that plays your own library in the browser on your own domain. Deploy mStream from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the pinned 6.31.1 image, creates the administrator account with a generated password, mounts volumes for settings and your music and publishes it over HTTPS. Uploads are on for the administrator, and the library is scanned automatically.
mStream is a self-hosted personal music streaming server. Its README calls it the easiest music streaming server, and lists album art lookup, with a web player, an admin panel and an API used by its mobile and desktop clients. The template README adds playlists, transcoding and browser uploads. Self-hosted mStream is a music server you run yourself instead of streaming from a hosted service such as Spotify. It is licensed under GPL-3.0.
On xCloud this template deploys mStream 6.31.1 as the LinuxServer image, pinned by digest, as one container. Settings, the SQLite database and keys sit on mstream_config, and your library on mstream_music, mounted at /music. The installation creates the administrator right after the first start, because mStream otherwise treats every visitor as an administrator until an account exists. The library is scanned on start and every 90 minutes.
A self-hosted music server normally means a container, an administrator account, volumes for settings and music, a domain and a certificate before the first track plays. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick mStream from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain, then set the administrator username (default admin) and the timezone; the password is generated for you.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the LinuxServer.io mStream image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container bound to loopback, mount the mstream_config and mstream_music volumes, create the administrator account and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Save the administrator password from the installation credentials, allow a minute or two for the first start, then open your HTTPS mStream URL and sign in. Upload music from the player or copy files into the music volume; the library scans automatically.
mStream runs in full here: a web music player, an admin panel and browser uploads on your own domain, with your library on a volume you control.
mStream serves a web player with playlists and album art, so your library plays straight from the browser over HTTPS.
The administrator can send whole albums from the player's upload button; the proxy accepts up to 1 GB per request.
The library is scanned a few seconds after start and again every 90 minutes, and search returns tracks with their metadata.
Add more users and choose which libraries each may play from the admin panel at /admin.
The installer creates the administrator account, so the server never sits open to anonymous visitors; anonymous API calls were rejected in QA.
Settings, the database and keys live in mstream_config and the library lives in mstream_music, both persistent named volumes.
Managed hosting for mStream, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Play the music you already own from any browser over HTTPS, without handing your library to a streaming service.
Upload whole albums from the browser as the administrator, instead of copying files onto the server by hand.
Add users in the admin panel and give each the libraries they may play.
mStream is a light single container: idle use measured about 53 MiB of RAM in QA, against a 512 MB template baseline.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Yes. mStream is open source under GPL-3.0, with the licence file linked from this page at the pinned v6.31.1 tag, so keep the notices and share source for modified versions. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS under it, not for mStream, and there is no per-listener fee.
Yes, and this mStream Docker hosting template does it for you: the LinuxServer mstream image, pinned by digest, runs as one container on your own server, with HTTPS in front of port 3000. It is not an mStream cloud account, so your music library stays with you.
The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM and one CPU core as a floor. The first library scan, transcoding and similarity analysis use more memory and CPU while they run. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves wide headroom above that floor.
Sign in with the administrator username and generated password from the credentials card. The player is at the site root and the admin panel at /admin. The installation creates that account right after the first start, so change the password in the admin panel under Users.
Yes. Uploads are turned on for the administrator, so use the upload button in the player, or copy files into the music volume. The proxy allows 1 GiB per request, but Cloudflare refuses requests above about 100 MB, so send large albums as several smaller uploads.
Not after setup. mStream ships with no account and treats every visitor as an administrator until one exists, so the installation creates the administrator right after the first start. If the sign-in page does not appear, add a user at /admin immediately.
Yes, in the admin panel under Users. The install values are used once to create the account, so editing them in the environment later does not rename it or change the password. Add more users there and give each the libraries they may play.
Yes. Set MUSIC_SOURCE in the environment to an absolute host folder, make it writable by the container user if you want uploads, and redeploy. Otherwise the music volume starts empty and private to this install. Only add music you are entitled to use.
It polls GitHub once a day for a new release, but the image has no self-update, so nothing changes without you. You can turn the check off in the admin panel's server settings if you prefer. Upgrades happen only when you adopt a newer template version.
Back up the whole mstream_config volume while mStream is stopped or quiet, because it holds config.json with the signing secret, the SQLite database and keys. The music volume holds your library and needs its own backup. Test a restore on a disposable install.
A running install stays on pinned 6.31.1 until you adopt a newer template version, so catalog updates leave it alone. Back up the config volume, read the mStream and LinuxServer release notes and test a restored copy. Then sign in, rescan and play a track.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
