Paymenter Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Paymenter hosting gives you self-hosted hosting billing software on your own domain: a storefront and invoicing for the hosting products you sell. Deploy Paymenter and xCloud runs the pinned Paymenter v1.5.8 image with a private MariaDB 11.8.3 database and Redis 8.2.1 cache, creates the administrator account with a generated password, mounts persistent volumes for application state, uploads, themes and extensions, and publishes it over HTTPS in minutes.

What is Paymenter?

Paymenter is an open-source billing and storefront platform for selling hosting products, with orders, invoices, payment gateways and customer services. Upstream describes it as open-source billing built for hosting, to automate subscriptions without vendor lock-in, and it gives a hosting business a customer-facing store and an administration area. A self-hosted Paymenter is an alternative to a commercial billing platform such as WHMCS, released under the MIT licence.

On xCloud it is Paymenter v1.5.8 from the official image, pinned by digest, with a private MariaDB 11.8.3 database and Redis 8.2.1 cache. Seven volumes hold application state, logs, uploads, themes, extensions, the database and the cache. xCloud creates the administrator at install and disables public registration. No payment gateway or outbound email is configured for you.

From Sign-Up to a Live Billing Portal In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Paymenter stack normally means an app container, a database, a cache, volumes, an administrator account, a domain and a certificate before the first product. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Paymenter from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and enter the administrator's first name, last name and email — the password is generated for you.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Paymenter image, pinned by immutable digest, with a private MariaDB 11.8.3 database and Redis 8.2.1 cache that have no host ports, mount the paymenter_var, paymenter_logs, paymenter_uploads, paymenter_themes, paymenter_extensions, paymenter_db and paymenter_redis volumes, create the administrator account, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Sign In At /admin

Save the administrator password from the protected installation credentials, open your HTTPS Paymenter URL and go to /admin. Create your product categories and products first, then enable only the payment gateways you need.

Open Source Billing For Hosting Companies: Paymenter On Your Own Server

Paymenter runs in full here: a billing and storefront platform for hosting products on your own domain, backed by a database you own.

  • Orders And Invoices

Sell products and services with orders, invoices and customer accounts from one admin area, with categories, products, coupons and currencies configured in the dashboard.

  • Payment Gateways You Choose

Connect the payment gateways and service integrations you want from the admin area; none is preconfigured, and the provider credentials are yours.

  • Customer Support Tickets

The admin dashboard includes tickets alongside invoices, orders, products, users and services.

  • Themes And Extensions

Themes and extensions each live on their own persistent volume, so customisations are kept apart from the application state.

  • Administrator Ready, Registration Off

The administrator account is created at install and public registration is switched off from the start; the register page returns 404.

  • Private MariaDB And Redis

MariaDB 11.8.3 and Redis 8.2.1 run alongside the app on the install's private network, with no published ports.

What You Can Do With Paymenter

  • A storefront for your hosting plans

Publish categories and products so customers can order the hosting services you sell, on your own domain rather than a third-party marketplace.

  • Invoicing and customer accounts

Keep orders, invoices and customer services in one admin area, with products, coupons and currencies managed from the dashboard.

  • Your own choice of payment providers

Enable only the payment gateways you need and keep the provider credentials under your control.

  • A private billing back office

Start with a single generated administrator and registration disabled, then create or enable customer accounts as your business needs them.

Paymenter vs Alternatives

WHMCS
As a self-hosted alternative to WHMCS, Paymenter is an open-source option under the MIT licence that runs on your own server. It is not a migration tool, so move customers yourself.
FOSSBilling
FOSSBilling has its own OneClick page. In a Paymenter vs FOSSBilling comparison, both are open-source billing apps for hosting providers; Paymenter is built around a storefront of hosting products.
Invoice Ninja
Invoice Ninja has its own OneClick page. It is self-hosted invoicing for freelancers and small businesses, while Paymenter is built around selling hosting products from a storefront.
InvoiceShelf
InvoiceShelf has its own OneClick page. It is another self-hosted invoicing app to compare if you need invoices rather than a hosting storefront.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I sign in to the Paymenter admin?

Open your domain's /admin page and use the administrator email you entered at install and the generated password from the protected installation credentials. The account is created once, at install, and the register page stays closed.

Can visitors register on Paymenter?

Not by default. Public registration is disabled at install and the register page returns 404, so you create or enable customer accounts as your business needs them, from the Paymenter administration area, rather than letting strangers sign up.

Can you self-host Paymenter with Docker?

Yes. Upstream ships an official Docker deployment, and this template is Paymenter Docker hosting without the setup: the v1.5.8 image with MariaDB and Redis, pinned by digest, seven volumes and HTTPS on your own domain.

How much RAM does Paymenter need?

The manifest asks for 1024 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk; QA measured about 255 MiB idle across the three containers. Customers, extensions, queues and uploads raise that, so the 6 GB plan leaves headroom.

Is Paymenter free?

Yes. Paymenter is released under the MIT licence, so there is no licence fee for the software. Your cost is the Cloud VPS that runs it, which makes this a Paymenter cloud of your own, plus any payment-gateway fees.

Is Paymenter an alternative to WHMCS?

It covers the same ground, billing and a storefront for hosting products, as an open-source option. It is not a drop-in replacement and has no WHMCS migration tool here, so test your products and gateways first.

Is a payment gateway or email already set up?

No. Outbound email and payment-provider credentials are yours to configure from the Paymenter admin area. Gateways come from extensions, so enable only the ones you need, keep the credentials private, and test a payment before you go live.

How do I back up Paymenter?

Back up all seven volumes together: paymenter_var, paymenter_logs, paymenter_uploads, paymenter_themes, paymenter_extensions, paymenter_db and paymenter_redis, plus an application-consistent MariaDB dump taken while writes are quiet. Keep off-server copies of the file and Redis volumes, restore the full set into a clean install, and test sign-in and a sample order.

How do I upgrade Paymenter?

The install stays on its pinned v1.5.8 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up every volume and read the upstream release notes first, since the image runs database migrations at startup. Nothing upgrades automatically.

What happens if I change the domain?

Paymenter also stores the site URL as App URL in its admin settings. If you change the domain, update App URL there as well, so links in emails, invoices and the storefront keep pointing at the right address.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
