What is InvoiceShelf?

InvoiceShelf is an open-source web and mobile app that helps you track expenses and payments and create professional invoices and estimates. The web application is built with Laravel and VueJS, and it covers customers, estimates, invoices, expenses, payments, reports and PDF documents. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted InvoiceShelf, an alternative to a hosted invoicing service such as Zoho Invoice or FreshBooks, with the code under the AGPL-3.0 licence.

Can I run InvoiceShelf in Docker?

Yes, and this template is InvoiceShelf Docker hosting without the setup: the upstream InvoiceShelf 2.4.2 image pinned by digest, with SQLite, two named volumes, the public URL and session domains set for you, and HTTPS on your domain.

How much RAM does InvoiceShelf need?

The template minimum is 1024 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 10 GB of disk. SQLite and file sessions keep the baseline self-contained. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with headroom above that.

How do I set up InvoiceShelf after installing?

Open your URL and complete InvoiceShelf's setup wizard to create the first administrator and company. Then add customers, estimates, invoices, expenses and payments from the application. The wizard creates your company profile too, so have its name and currency ready before you begin.

Where does InvoiceShelf store its data?

SQLite lives in the invoiceshelf_storage volume with uploaded files, generated documents, logs and framework state. Installed module state is in invoiceshelf_modules. A database-only copy is not a complete backup, because uploads and module state live outside it.

Does InvoiceShelf have a default admin password?

No. xCloud generates and shows no admin credential. You create the administrator in the setup wizard after the first start, so open the address promptly, since the wizard is reachable until it is completed. Choose a strong password there and keep it in your own password manager.

Is InvoiceShelf free?

Yes. InvoiceShelf is released under the AGPL-3.0 licence and carries no licence fee. Your plan covers the dedicated Cloud VPS holding customers and invoices, which makes it an InvoiceShelf cloud of your own. The first administrator and company are created in the setup wizard, which is part of the app itself.

How do I back up InvoiceShelf?

Back up invoiceshelf_storage and invoiceshelf_modules together and restore them as one set, then test the restore. Do not delete either volume during a restart, redeploy or upgrade. Nothing schedules this copy, so run it yourself and keep one off the server.

How do I upgrade InvoiceShelf?

Your InvoiceShelf stays on its pinned 2.4.2 image until you move to a newer template version. Save invoiceshelf_storage and invoiceshelf_modules first, then read the upstream release and Docker upgrade notes. Nothing upgrades automatically, and a redeploy keeps both volumes.

What if I change my InvoiceShelf domain?

Keep the public URL, session domain and Sanctum stateful domain aligned with the new domain in the Environment editor, then save and redeploy. A mismatch breaks sign-in sessions, which depend on those values matching your address.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
