What is Ryot?

Ryot is a free, open-source dashboard for tracking media, fitness, collections, measurements and personal progress from one self-hosted application. This template deploys version 10.5.0.

Is Ryot free?

Yes — it is free and open source under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL-3.0). What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.

Can I self-host Ryot?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the vendor-maintained Ryot image alongside a private PostgreSQL database, both pinned by immutable digest, mounts its persistent data volume, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.

Who becomes the administrator, and how do I sign in?

There is no xCloud-generated account for Ryot. Open your HTTPS URL after installation and register the first account immediately — Ryot grants the first registered account the administrator role, and that is the account you sign in with going forward.

Is registration open to anyone by default?

Yes, until an administrator restricts it. Ryot leaves registration open to anyone who can reach the URL until the admin changes that setting. Register your own account immediately after installation, then review authentication and registration settings before sharing the URL.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

A private PostgreSQL database with a generated password, a generated server-administration access token, the persistent data volume, the domain, and the HTTPS route. There are no installation-time fields beyond choosing a domain, and no login credentials for xCloud to generate — account creation happens inside Ryot itself.

What should I back up?

The complete ryot_postgres_data volume, which contains the full PostgreSQL cluster — users, settings, measurements, workouts, collections and media history. Back it up before upgrades, and never run docker compose down -v on a retained installation.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Ryot?

No. The template pins Ryot and PostgreSQL by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Before changing either pinned image, back up and test-restore the full database volume, review Ryot release and migration notes, and use PostgreSQL's supported dump/restore or pg_upgrade procedure for any major PostgreSQL version change.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template manifest asks for 2 GB of RAM, one CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor for Ryot alongside PostgreSQL. This page sells the 6 GB tier as comfortable headroom above that floor, with room for a growing tracking history to accumulate.

What survives a restart?

Everything on ryot_postgres_data, because it is a persistent named volume. Restarting the containers or running an xCloud lifecycle action does not touch your users, settings, measurements, workouts, collections or media history.

Are metadata providers and integrations set up for me?

No — optional metadata providers and third-party integrations require your own credentials, configured inside Ryot after installation. They are not required for baseline health or personal fitness tracking.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Ryot?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Ryot or IgnisDa has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Ryot project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
