SkySend Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

SkySend hosting on xCloud gives you your own end-to-end encrypted file and note sharing service on your own domain. xCloud deploys the official SkySend 2.12.1 image as a single container, mounts persistent volumes for the database and uploads and publishes it over HTTPS in minutes — files and notes are encrypted in the browser, so your server only ever stores ciphertext.

What is SkySend?

SkySend is a minimalist, self-hostable file and note sharing service with end-to-end encryption. Files and notes are encrypted entirely in the browser using AES-256-GCM before they reach the server, so the server stores only encrypted blobs and never has the decryption key.

The key lives in the URL fragment of the share link, which is not sent to the server. Upstream describes it as built from scratch and inspired by timvisee/send and PrivateBin, with no accounts and no tracking.

From Sign-Up to Your First Encrypted Share In Just 3 Easy Steps

A private sharing service normally means a Node.js runtime, a reverse proxy, upload size limits, persistent storage, a domain and a certificate before the first file. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account, pick SkySend from the OneClick catalog and choose a domain. There are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We run the official SkySend image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with the skysend_data and skysend_uploads volumes, generate the session secret used if you later enable OIDC, align the proxy upload limit to 2 GB and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Create Your First Share

Open your HTTPS SkySend URL after the first start, which runs database migrations and takes about a minute. Upload a file or write a note, set an optional password, expiry or download limit, and send the link — ideally with any password sent through a different channel.

Everything SkySend Does, On Your Own Server

SkySend runs in full here: browser-side encryption, file and note sharing, and optional sign-in for uploads, on a domain you control.

  • Encrypted In The Browser

Files and notes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before upload, and the key stays in the URL fragment, so the server never has it.

  • Files And Folders

Upload several files at once or a whole folder, with a configurable expiry, a download limit and an optional per-share password.

  • Encrypted Notes

Share text, Markdown, code snippets with syntax highlighting, password lists and SSH keys as encrypted notes.

  • Burn After Reading

Notes can self-destruct after a single view, or after a view limit you choose.

  • No Accounts Needed

Anyone can create and receive shares without registering, and an upload dashboard in the browser tracks your own shares.

  • Optional OIDC Sign-In

Restrict who can upload files or create notes by connecting an OIDC provider; downloads always stay public.

Everything You Need To Run Your Encrypted Sharing 24/7

Managed hosting for SkySend, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • SkySend 2.12.1 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Session secret generated for you
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With SkySend

  • Send large files privately

Hand a client or colleague a link to a large file, or a whole folder, that expires after a set time or number of downloads.

  • Share secrets without chat history

Pass along a password list, an API token or an SSH key as an encrypted note that can burn after a single view.

  • Share code snippets

Send a snippet with syntax highlighting and line numbers instead of pasting it into a chat that keeps it forever.

  • Keep transfers on your own domain

Give people a familiar address for receiving files, with the encrypted data held on a server you control.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What makes SkySend different?

Encryption happens entirely in the browser using AES-256-GCM, with the key kept in the URL fragment, so the server stores only encrypted blobs and never has the decryption key.

How do I sign in?

There is no login and no admin account by default. To require sign-in for uploads and note creation, configure OIDC in the Environment editor.

Can anyone create shares on my instance?

Yes, by default. Anyone who can reach the site can create shares, and downloads stay public, although a share password still gates retrieval. Set OIDC_ISSUER, OIDC_CLIENT_ID and OIDC_CLIENT_SECRET together to gate uploads.

What runs alongside SkySend?

Nothing. It is a single container with a SQLite database; there are no sidecar services.

How large can a file be?

The default limit is 2 GB, configurable with FILE_MAX_SIZE. The xCloud proxy body limit is aligned to 2G, so keep the proxy limit aligned if you change it.

What should I back up?

The skysend_data and skysend_uploads volumes, together. Restoring only one leaves shares unreadable or orphaned.

How do I change settings such as BASE_URL or size limits?

BASE_URL, size limits, WebSocket upload, forced share passwords and OIDC settings are read on every start. Change them in the Environment editor and Save & Redeploy.

What should I know before enabling OIDC?

Set all three OIDC values together or SkySend will not start, and keep OIDC_SESSION_SECRET unchanged or signed-in sessions reset on restart. Leave TRUST_PROXY unset so a request reaching the origin cannot forge forwarded IP headers.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update SkySend?

No. The template pins SkySend 2.12.1 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 33 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom for large transfers above that baseline.

What survives a restart?

Shares and the database live on persistent named volumes. In QA the container was restarted from xCloud and the same note link still decrypted afterwards.

Can I delete a note I created anonymously?

A note created anonymously cannot be deleted without its owner token and simply expires. That is normal for anonymous shares.

What licence is SkySend under?

AGPL-3.0. Operators of a network instance must offer the corresponding source for any modified version.

Is xCloud officially partnered with SkySend?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the SkySend project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source SkySend project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
