Alarik Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Run a self-hosted, S3-compatible object store that gives your applications and backup tools a private S3 endpoint over managed HTTPS, with no external database to run. xCloud configures the pinned Alarik image, the Caddy gateway in front of it, generated admin and S3 credentials, persistent storage and the domain in minutes.

From Sign-Up to a Live S3 Endpoint In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting an S3-compatible store normally means a container, a gateway for large uploads, generated keys, a domain and a certificate before a single object is stored. This is the same result without assembling any of it by hand.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Alarik from the OneClick catalog. Select a domain, and optionally set the administrator username — it defaults to alarik.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned Alarik 1.0.0-beta-16 image behind a small pinned Caddy gateway — the only published port — generate the administrator password and an S3 access/secret key pair, create a starter bucket named data, mount alarik_storage, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Point An S3 Client At It

Save the administrator password and S3 keys shown in your xCloud credential panel, then point any S3 client at the HTTPS domain with path-style addressing. List the data bucket, then create buckets and upload objects with your usual S3 tooling.

Everything Alarik Does, On Your Own Server

Alarik runs in full here — the same S3 API surface as any hosted object store, on infrastructure you control.

  • Full S3 API Compatibility

Multipart uploads, bucket versioning, presigned URLs, bucket policies, lifecycle rules and SigV4 authentication, reachable with path-style addressing from existing S3 clients and SDKs.

  • A Target For Assets And Backups

Point application assets, user uploads and any backup tool that speaks S3 straight at your own endpoint.

  • No External Database

Buckets, users, keys and policies live in Alarik's own storage — there is nothing else to provision or keep in sync.

  • Ready On First Start

A starter bucket named data, an administrator account and an S3 access key pair are generated for you the moment the server comes up.

  • Sign-Up Closed By Default

Public account creation is turned off, so the API is not an open signup surface for anyone who finds the domain.

  • Objects Survive A Restart

Objects, buckets and keys persist on the storage volume; a restart read every stored object back byte-identical in verification.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What makes Alarik different from other S3-compatible stores?

Alarik is a Swift-based, Apache 2.0 licensed object store that upstream positions as a transparent, community-driven alternative, with no external database to operate. This template deploys version 1.0.0-beta-16.

Is Alarik free?

Yes. Alarik is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. xCloud charges for the managed server it runs on, not for Alarik itself.

Can I self-host Alarik with this template?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the pinned Alarik image behind a small Caddy gateway, generates administrator and S3 credentials, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in a few minutes instead of assembled by hand.

How do I sign in?

Use the S3 access and secret key from the installation credentials with any S3 client. The administrator username and password are shown alongside them for the parts of Alarik that use them.

What runs alongside Alarik?

A small Caddy gateway that fronts the S3 port and keeps large uploads and multipart uploads working through the xCloud proxy. There is no database sidecar.

Does it include the web console?

No. This install serves the S3 API only. Upstream's separate web console needs a second hostname and is not included here.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The pinned Alarik image and Caddy gateway, the administrator password, an S3 access/secret key pair, a starter bucket named data, the alarik_storage volume, and HTTPS on your domain. Anonymous requests are rejected (403) from first boot.

What should I back up?

The alarik_storage volume — upstream names Storage/ as the only thing to back up — together with the stable environment values. Objects, buckets and keys all live there.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 1 CPU core, 1024 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk as a floor. Measured idle use in QA was around 93 MiB for Alarik and 13 MiB for the gateway. This page sells the 6 GB tier, well above that floor.

Can I change the administrator username, password or S3 keys later?

Not by editing them after the fact. The administrator username and password, the access and secret keys, and the starter bucket are applied only on the first start against an empty data volume — changing the values afterward does not rotate them.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Alarik?

No. The template pins Alarik by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. This is a beta release — read upstream's release notes and take a backup before bumping the readable tag and digest together.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Alarik?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Alarik has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Alarik project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
