Deploy Drivebase hosting and run a self-hosted multi-cloud file manager that puts Google Drive, S3-compatible storage and other providers behind one windowed web interface on your own domain. xCloud starts the pinned image with PostgreSQL and Redis, generates the secrets and master key and adds a site-wide browser login, because Drivebase has no administrator role and cannot close registration. Upstream says version 4 is still in active development.
Drivebase is an open-source, self-hosted platform that connects your cloud storage providers, such as Google Drive, S3, Dropbox, OneDrive and the local filesystem, under a single interface. Upstream's README states the MIT licence and lists a desktop-like windowed interface, batch copy, move and transfer with conflict analysis, resumable chunked uploads and a GraphQL API. Self-hosted Drivebase is the option for people who juggle several accounts such as Google Drive and Dropbox.
On xCloud the template runs ghcr.io/drivebase/drivebase v4.0.0, pinned by digest, with PostgreSQL 17 and Redis 7, and three volumes. Upstream warns that version 4 is still in active development, with possible breaking changes. Drivebase has no administrator role and no way to close registration, so the template puts HTTP Basic authentication on the whole site. The in-app updater is not available.
A Drivebase stack normally means an app container, PostgreSQL, Redis, a config file, secrets, volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first file. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick Drivebase from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the upstream Drivebase v4.0.0 image, pinned by immutable digest, with private PostgreSQL 17 (pgvector) and Redis 7 that publish no host ports, mount the drivebase_data, drivebase_postgres_data and drivebase_redis_data volumes, generate the credentials, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Open your HTTPS URL and enter the site login from the credentials card when the browser asks. Create your own Drivebase account, connect a storage provider and upload a first file. The first start runs database migrations and can take a minute or two.
Drivebase runs in full here: a browser file manager for your cloud storage, backed by a database and queue you own.
Upstream's README lists Google Drive, AWS S3 and S3-compatible services, local filesystem, Dropbox and OneDrive, browsed in one place.
Work across providers with preflight conflict analysis, and resolve conflicts by overwrite, skip, rename or manual review.
Upload sessions survive browser reloads, and the template routes chunked uploads, downloads and previews through the web server correctly.
Files, Providers and Settings open as windows you can move, resize and switch between, in the browser.
Provider credentials are encrypted with a master key generated at install and shown on the protected credentials card.
PostgreSQL 17 with pgvector and Redis 7 are reachable only inside the install's private network, with no published port.
Managed hosting for Drivebase, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Connect Google Drive, an S3 bucket and OneDrive, and browse them in a single file tree instead of switching between each provider's site.
Transfer or copy folders from one provider to another, with conflicts detected before anything is overwritten.
Use resumable chunked uploads that survive browser reloads, or direct presigned uploads to S3 that bypass your server.
Use the GraphQL API that upstream exposes to automate file operations from your own tools, behind the site login.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Drivebase is used to manage files across several cloud accounts from one place. You connect providers such as Google Drive or S3, browse them as one tree, upload with resumable chunks, and copy, move or transfer files between providers with conflicts detected first. The interface behaves like a small desktop with movable windows.
Yes. The upstream README states the MIT licence, and the project is open source, so the software has no licence fee. The v4.0.0 tag has no separate LICENSE file, so rely on the README and retain upstream notices. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS and the deployment, while your storage providers bill their own storage.
Yes. For Drivebase Docker hosting the template runs the ghcr.io/drivebase image at v4.0.0 with PostgreSQL 17 and Redis 7, all pinned by digest, behind HTTPS on your domain, with three named volumes. It generates the database password, the master key and the session secret, and renders the configuration file at each start.
Drivebase's manifest floor is 1024 MB of RAM, one core and 5 GB of disk, for the app, PostgreSQL and Redis together. The 6 GB tier on this page is comfortable. Disk use mainly comes from upload staging and the preview cache, since file contents stay with the connected providers.
Upstream lists Google Drive, AWS S3 and S3-compatible services such as Cloudflare R2, Wasabi, Backblaze B2 and MinIO, the local filesystem, Dropbox and OneDrive, with Box, Azure Blob Storage and SFTP still unticked. You connect each provider inside the app; their credentials are encrypted in the database with the master key.
Drivebase has no administrator role and no setting to close registration, so anyone who reached the URL could register and upload through your server. The template therefore adds an HTTP Basic login for the whole site, user admin, with a generated password on your credentials card. After that, you create your own Drivebase account.
It is a generated base64 value that encrypts the storage-provider credentials kept in the database. Keep it unchanged: replacing it makes stored provider credentials unreadable, and you would have to reconnect every provider. The database password is applied only when the database volume is first created, so rotate it inside PostgreSQL too.
Back up three volumes together: drivebase_postgres_data holds accounts, encrypted provider credentials and metadata, drivebase_redis_data holds queue and cache state, and drivebase_data holds upload staging and the preview cache. Keep the master key with the backup. File contents live with your providers, not in these volumes.
Version v4.0.0 stays fixed by digest. The upstream updater service needs control of the Docker daemon, so the in-app update feature is unavailable here. Back up the volumes, read the release notes, and select a later template version. Upstream warns that version 4 may bring breaking changes, so test first.
Treat it carefully. Upstream states that v4 is still in active development, with breaking changes, incomplete features and shifting APIs possible until a stable release is tagged. Keep backups, expect to retest after each upgrade, and avoid relying on it as the only copy of important files.
Yes. Drivebase cloud use means a dedicated Cloud VPS carrying the app, PostgreSQL and Redis, with your domain and certificate attached. Another provider's machine can be enrolled as self-managed. The first start runs database migrations, which can take a minute or two.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
