Deploy Cloud Commander hosting and run a self-hosted web file manager, with a console and editor, for browsing, uploading, downloading and organising files on your own domain. xCloud starts the pinned official image with HTTP Basic Authentication on, keeps managed files and settings on two persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS. The file area is separate from the server's own filesystem.
Cloud Commander is a file manager for the web with a console and an editor, released under the MIT licence. Upstream presents it as a Node.js application you open in a browser, and the template adds browsing, uploading, downloading, editing and organising files. Self-hosted Cloud Commander is the option for people who would otherwise move files through a hosted drive such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
On xCloud the template runs coderaiser/cloudcmd 18.5.1, pinned by digest, as one container with HTTP Basic Authentication enabled. Managed files live on the cloudcommander_files volume, mounted at /mnt/fs, and settings on cloudcommander_config. The managed storage is deliberately separate from the host filesystem, and the console does not reach the host server. There is one administrator login and no sharing links or multi-user accounts.
Self-hosting a web file manager means a container, a reverse proxy, a certificate and a login before the first upload. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick Cloud Commander from the OneClick catalog, then choose your server and a domain. Set the administrator username (it defaults to admin) or keep it as is.
Step 02
One click. We start the official Cloud Commander image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with HTTPS in front, HTTP Basic Authentication on every route, and the cloudcommander_files and cloudcommander_config volumes mounted. The password is generated for you and shown in your installation credentials.
Step 03
Open the HTTPS URL, sign in with the administrator username and password, then upload a file or press F7 to create your first folder in the managed storage.
Cloud Commander runs in full here: the file manager, console and editors, with its files and settings on volumes you control.
A classic dual-pane layout in the browser that adapts to phone, tablet and desktop screens, with function-key shortcuts such as F7 for a new folder.
Dword, Edward and Deepword give you syntax-highlighted editing for config files, notes and code without leaving the page.
Pack folders into zip or tar.gz, and extract zip, tar, gz, bz2, .tar.gz and .tar.bz2 archives straight from the browser.
Run command-line work from the browser. The console runs inside the Cloud Commander container, not on the host server.
Basic Authentication is always on. In QA every route required the login, wrong passwords were rejected and the upstream default logins did not work.
Your files and the Cloud Commander settings sit on separate persistent volumes and survive an xCloud Restart.
Managed hosting for Cloud Commander, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Browse folders, upload and download files and edit text in the browser, in a storage area that is separate from the rest of the server.
Upload a file from one machine and download it from another through your own domain, limited only by the proxy and your disk.
Open a text file in the built-in editor, change it and save it, without an SSH client, within the managed storage volume.
Use the console for quick file operations in the managed area, knowing the template does not give it the host root directory.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Cloud Commander is used to manage files through a web page. You browse directories, upload and download files, edit text in the built-in editor, and run commands in the console, all from a browser. In this template those actions apply to a managed storage area on your server, not the host's whole filesystem.
Yes. Cloud Commander is open source under the MIT licence, so there is no licence fee for the file manager. The bill from xCloud covers the Cloud VPS and its deployment. The storage you fill with files comes out of the server's disk.
Yes. For Cloud Commander Docker hosting the template runs the coderaiser/cloudcmd 18.5.1 image, pinned by digest, in a single container, with two named volumes and your domain's HTTPS in front. It turns HTTP Basic Authentication on with the administrator you choose, so you do not write a compose file or set credentials by hand.
Its manifest floor is 512 MB of RAM, one core and 2 GB of storage. The 6 GB tier on this page leaves ample room. Disk is what limits you, since the managed files sit on the server, so size the Cloud VPS for the amount of data you plan to keep.
No. In this template Cloud Commander starts in /mnt/fs on a persistent volume that is separate from the server's host filesystem, and the console does not provide access to the host root directory. It manages the files in that volume only, which limits the damage if the login is ever compromised.
Sign in through the browser's Basic Authentication prompt with the administrator username and password from your credentials card. To change them, update the values in the Environment editor and redeploy; changes made only inside the application are not what the container reads at start. There is a single login, with no per-user accounts.
This release declares no application upload limit, so uploads are limited by the HTTPS proxy and the storage available. A proxy in front of your domain, such as Cloudflare, may reject very large single requests. For big files, check the proxy limit first and keep spare disk space for the upload.
Back up both volumes together: cloudcommander_files holds the managed files and directories, and cloudcommander_config holds Cloud Commander's configuration. Restoring only the files volume does not restore application settings. Keep copies off-server and restore both under the same installation before starting the service.
Version 18.5.1 is fixed by tag and digest, so existing installs keep it until you adopt a later template version. Back up both volumes, review the upstream release notes, then select that later template version. After the restart, sign in and confirm the files and the console still open.
Not with sharing links or separate accounts. This template provides one administrator login, with no sync, public share links, multi-user accounts or single sign-on. To let someone else in, you would have to share that login, which is not recommended. Choose a different tool if you need per-person access.
Yes. Cloud Commander cloud use places the app on a dedicated Cloud VPS with your domain and certificate attached. Rented hardware elsewhere can join as a self-managed server running this template.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
