What is Chibisafe?

Chibisafe is a free, open-source, self-hosted file vault for uploading, organizing and sharing images, documents, snippets and other files. It includes albums, shareable links, a REST API and a browser extension. This template deploys version 6.5.5.

Is Chibisafe free?

Yes — it is free and open source under the MIT licence. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

Can I self-host Chibisafe?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the pinned Chibisafe 6.5.5 frontend and backend behind a Caddy router, mounts its three persistent volumes, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in about five minutes instead of assembled by hand.

Does Chibisafe support anonymous uploads?

That depends on settings you control inside Chibisafe, not on this template. The post-install guidance is to review public-upload and registration settings in the dashboard before sharing your URL, since the default is not meant to be a wide-open public drop.

What database does Chibisafe use here?

SQLite, stored on the chibisafe_database volume. There is no separate database container to manage — the backend keeps its own database file on that volume.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

A generated administrator password, the Chibisafe URL, the private container network, all three persistent volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Caddy router is published, bound to localhost — the frontend and backend are never directly exposed to the internet.

Is there an administrator account?

Yes. The username is admin and xCloud generates the password, shown once in your xCloud credential panel. Changing ADMIN_PASSWORD later in the Environment editor does not rotate an existing account — change the password inside Chibisafe instead.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 2048 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier at that same floor, with disk demand mostly driven by how much you upload and how long you keep it.

What should I back up?

chibisafe_database, chibisafe_uploads and chibisafe_logs together. The database volume carries the SQLite database and configuration, the uploads volume carries your actual files, and the logs volume carries operational history — back them up together for a complete restore.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Chibisafe?

No. The template pins Chibisafe 6.5.5; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Customers should schedule and test their own backups and review upstream release notes before updating.

What survives a restart?

Everything on chibisafe_database, chibisafe_uploads and chibisafe_logs, because all three are persistent named volumes. Restarting the containers does not touch your files, database or logs.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Chibisafe?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Chibisafe has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Chibisafe project.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
