What is Wizarr?

Wizarr is an automatic user invitation and management system for Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Audiobookshelf, Romm, Komga and Kavita. Upstream describes creating a unique invite link and sharing it, after which users are added to your media server and guided through downloading apps and accessing request systems. It offers time-limited membership, wizard steps, SSO support, Discord invites and a REST API. Self-hosted Wizarr replaces manual invites, under the MIT licence.

On xCloud it is Wizarr 2026.9.0, pinned by digest, as one container with an embedded SQLite database on the wizarr_data volume, so there is no separate database service. xCloud generates no Wizarr account: the first visitor creates the administrator through Wizarr's own setup flow, so open the site immediately. Media server URLs and API tokens are entered inside Wizarr, not at install.

Can you self-host Wizarr with Docker?

Yes. Upstream documents installation with Docker, and this template is Wizarr Docker hosting already set up: the 2026.9.0 image pinned by digest, one wizarr_data volume and HTTPS on your domain. It is your own Wizarr cloud invitation manager, with no separate database.

How much RAM does Wizarr need?

Wizarr declares 1024 MB memory, 1 vCPU and 10 GB storage. This page starts at the 6 GB plan. Wizarr keeps its own SQLite database inside the data volume, so memory use stays modest and disk is what grows.

Is Wizarr free?

Yes, MIT licensing means no software fee. xCloud bills only the dedicated Cloud VPS, cancellable any time. The media server you invite people to is billed or hosted wherever you already run it, not here.

How do I create the first Wizarr administrator?

xCloud does not generate a Wizarr account. Open the generated HTTPS URL immediately after installation: the uninitialised application redirects to Wizarr's own setup flow, where you create the first administrator by hand. Until you do, anyone who reaches the address could.

Does Wizarr run Plex, Jellyfin or Emby for me?

No. Wizarr only manages invitations and onboarding for a media server you already run and control. You connect it by entering the server's URL and API token inside Wizarr's authenticated Settings page. The xCloud install form does not collect those values.

Which media servers does Wizarr support?

Upstream lists Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Audiobookshelf, Romm, Komga and Kavita. Connect the ones you run under Settings, then create invitations per server. Check upstream's documentation for the features each platform supports, because they differ from one platform to the next.

How do Wizarr invitation links work?

Create an invitation from the dashboard, then share the generated link. Opening it adds the invited person to the media server and walks them through setup, including app downloads and request tools. Test a synthetic invitation before you send real ones to other people.

Is Wizarr's built-in authentication on by default?

Yes, and this template does not expose a way to turn it off during installation. Keep it enabled, and disable it only if you have independently configured and tested a trusted authentication proxy in front of Wizarr.

How do I back up Wizarr?

Back up the complete wizarr_data volume. It holds the embedded SQLite database, session data, integration configuration and Wizarr's own generated application secret under /data/database. Stop writes or use an SQLite-consistent snapshot, and test a restore once.

How do I upgrade Wizarr?

The install stays on pinned 2026.9.0 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up wizarr_data, consult upstream's release notes, then redeploy without deleting the volume and check sign-in and an invitation. Nothing upgrades automatically.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
