What is Seerr?

Seerr is a free and open source application for managing requests for your media library. Upstream describes integration with Jellyfin, Plex and Emby, plus Sonarr and Radarr, with a request system, library scan, granular permissions and notification agents. It is also the project that upstream presents to Overseerr and Jellyseerr users, with a migration guide. A self-hosted Seerr is the request layer for a media server you own, under the MIT licence.

Does Seerr include Plex or Jellyfin?

No. Seerr is a companion app, and no Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Sonarr or Radarr is bundled. You need an existing, working media server before it is useful, and you connect it in the setup wizard.

How do I sign in to Seerr the first time?

Open the HTTPS URL and run the Setup wizard. Choose Plex, Jellyfin or Emby and sign in with an account on that server. That sign-in creates the first administrator, so there is no separate password to look up.

What is the difference between Seerr and Overseerr?

How much RAM does Seerr need?

The manifest floor is 512 MB of RAM, one core and 5 GB of disk. The 6 GB plan sits far above that, so the same server can run other apps, though a media server would normally sit elsewhere.

Does Seerr work with Sonarr and Radarr?

Yes. Upstream lists Sonarr and Radarr as supported integrations. You can connect them at the end of the setup wizard or later in settings; they are not bundled, so point Seerr at instances you already run.

Is Seerr open source?

Yes. Seerr is published under the MIT licence, so the app itself costs nothing. You pay for the Cloud VPS underneath, which makes this a Seerr cloud of your own rather than a hosted request service.

How do I back up Seerr?

Back up the whole seerr_config volume, which holds the SQLite database, generated settings, logs and cache. Stop writes or use an SQLite-consistent snapshot, keep it as one unit and test a restore before you rely on it.

How do I upgrade Seerr?

The install stays on its pinned v3.4.1 image until you adopt a newer template version. Review the upstream release notes and back up seerr_config first, then recreate the container without deleting the volume. Nothing upgrades automatically.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
