Zipline Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

A private, self-hosted file-sharing platform for fast uploads and shareable links — your own domain, your own storage, no third-party upload host in between. xCloud configures the pinned container, a private PostgreSQL database, four persistent volumes and the HTTPS reverse proxy, so all that's left is creating your first account.

From Sign-Up to a Live Zipline In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting Zipline normally means a container, a PostgreSQL database, four volumes, a domain and a certificate before a single file uploads. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Zipline from the OneClick catalog. Choose your site and a temporary or production domain.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned Zipline 4.6.5 image, provision a private PostgreSQL database, mount the uploads, public and themes volumes, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Create Your Account And Close Sign-Up

Open your HTTPS URL and create the first local account. Then set FEATURES_USER_REGISTRATION=false in the xCloud Environment editor and restart the app to close public registration.

Everything Zipline Does, On Your Own Server

Zipline runs in full here — the same upload, organize and share workflow as any hosted file host, on infrastructure you control.

  • Fast File Uploads

Upload through the web dashboard or ShareX-compatible clients, built for quick screenshot-to-link workflows.

  • Albums

Group related uploads into albums so a growing file library stays organized instead of one flat list.

  • URL Shortening

Shorten arbitrary URLs alongside your file uploads, from the same dashboard and API.

  • Built-In Image Tools

Apply basic image operations to uploads directly in Zipline, without a separate editing tool.

  • Modern Web Dashboard

Manage uploads, albums and settings from a clean, current dashboard rather than a bare file listing.

  • Your Own PostgreSQL Database

Accounts, upload metadata and configuration live in a PostgreSQL database private to your server, not a shared multi-tenant one.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What is Zipline?

Zipline is a free, open-source, self-hosted file-sharing platform for uploads, albums, URL shortening and image tools, with a modern web dashboard and ShareX compatibility. This template deploys version 4.6.5.

Is Zipline free?

Yes — it is free and open source under the MIT licence. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

Can I self-host Zipline?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the pinned Zipline 4.6.5 container with its own PostgreSQL database, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in about five minutes instead of assembled by hand.

Does Zipline work with ShareX?

Yes. Zipline is built to accept uploads from ShareX and similar clients, so you can configure a ShareX profile against your own domain once your account exists.

How do I create my first account?

Open your Zipline HTTPS URL after installation and register the first local account directly in the app — xCloud does not generate an administrator account for you here.

Why do I need to disable registration after signing up?

The template leaves public sign-up open so you can create your first account. Once you have one, set FEATURES_USER_REGISTRATION=false in the xCloud Environment editor and restart the app — otherwise anyone who finds your URL can register their own account.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The Zipline URL, a private PostgreSQL database and its generated password, a generated CORE_SECRET, the private container network, all four persistent volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. PostgreSQL has no host port, so it is never directly exposed to the internet.

Can I change CORE_SECRET later?

Avoid it unless necessary. CORE_SECRET underpins security-sensitive application state, and rotating it can invalidate that state or existing sessions.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 2048 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier at that same floor, with disk demand mostly driven by upload volume and retention.

What should I back up?

zipline_postgresql_data, zipline_uploads, zipline_public and zipline_themes together. The database volume carries accounts, upload metadata and configuration; the other three carry your actual files, public assets and installed themes.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Zipline?

No. The template pins Zipline 4.6.5; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Customers should schedule and test their own backups and review upstream release notes before updating.

What survives a restart?

Everything on all four persistent volumes — database, uploads, public assets and themes. Restarting the container does not touch any of them.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Zipline?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Zipline has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Zipline project.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.

Ready to Own Your File Sharing?

Connect your first server in minutes. No credit card required, and no plan you have to grow into.
