FileGator Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Give a few people, or a whole team, a private place to upload and share files — without wiring up a container, an auth layer, a domain and a certificate yourself. xCloud configures the pinned FileGator 7.15.1 image, its two persistent volumes and the HTTPS reverse proxy in minutes, with your administrator login ready the moment it's live.

From Sign-Up to a Live FileGator In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting a multi-user file manager normally means a container, two volumes to keep in sync, an auth layer, a domain and a certificate before the first file is uploaded. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick FileGator from the OneClick catalog. Enter an administrator username and a password of at least 12 characters, or use xCloud's generated 24-character password, then choose your site domain.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the vendor-maintained FileGator 7.15.1 image pinned by immutable digest, replace its documented default administrator with your credentials, mount the filegator_repository and filegator_private volumes and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Upload A File

Open your HTTPS URL and sign in with the administrator credentials xCloud shows you. Upload a file, create folders, and add restricted users from the Users page — then review each user's home directory and permissions before sharing access.

Everything FileGator Does, On Your Own Server

FileGator runs in full here — a self-hosted, multi-user web file manager, on infrastructure you control.

  • Full Browser File Management

Upload, download, preview, edit, archive and organize files straight from the browser — no desktop client or FTP tool needed.

  • Multiple Users, Private Home Folders

Create additional users with their own home directory and scoped permissions, so each person sees only the files they're meant to.

  • Official Multi-Architecture Image

Runs the official FileGator 7.15.1 image, pinned by immutable digest, without building anything from source yourself.

  • Two Coordinated Volumes

Uploaded files live on filegator_repository; users, password hashes, configuration, sessions and logs live on filegator_private — both persist across a restart.

  • HTTPS-Only Exposure

The FileGator web interface is the only thing published, over xCloud-managed HTTPS on your domain.

  • Default Credential Replaced On First Boot

FileGator's documented default administrator account is overwritten with your username and password before the app is ever reachable.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What is FileGator?

FileGator is a free, open-source, multi-user web file manager for uploading, downloading, previewing, editing, archiving and organizing files from a browser, with per-user home folders and permissions. This template deploys version 7.15.1.

Is FileGator free?

Yes — it is free and open source under the MIT License. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

Can I self-host FileGator?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official FileGator 7.15.1 multi-architecture image pinned by immutable digest, mounts its two persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.

How do I sign in?

With the administrator username and password you set at install time — a custom username and a password of at least 12 characters, or xCloud's generated 24-character password. Either way, xCloud shows the credentials once in your installation panel.

Does the default FileGator login ever go live?

No. FileGator ships with a documented default administrator account, but this template's first-boot process replaces it with your chosen or generated credentials before the app is reachable over HTTPS. The default never serves live traffic.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The administrator account, the two persistent data volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the FileGator web interface is published through xCloud-managed ingress — the container's own port is bound to localhost, not exposed directly.

What should I back up?

filegator_repository and filegator_private together, from the same point in time. The repository volume holds uploaded files and folders; the private volume holds users, password hashes, configuration, sessions and logs. Restoring only one can leave file data and access configuration out of sync.

Can I change the administrator password later?

Editing ADMIN_USERNAME or ADMIN_PASSWORD in the Environment editor after install does not rotate the active login — those values only initialize a brand-new filegator_private volume. To rotate safely, sign in to FileGator, open Users, edit the administrator, save the new password, and verify a fresh login before discarding the old credential.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update FileGator?

No. The template pins FileGator 7.15.1 by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review upstream release notes and take a verified backup of both volumes before changing the pinned release.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor — FileGator itself is lightweight; actual storage use depends on what your users upload. This page sells the same 6 GB tier as every other OneClick app, well above what FileGator itself needs, so there's room for other work on the same server.

What survives a restart?

Everything on filegator_repository and filegator_private, because both are persistent named volumes. A restart does not touch existing uploads, users, or the administrator login.

Is xCloud officially partnered with FileGator?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the FileGator project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source FileGator project.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
